Tips for Driving G35 Coupe in Snow?
So this will be my first winter with my G35 Coupe. Please provide me with some tips on driving in the snow!
(1) Blizzak Snow Tires (done)
(2) I heard you should add weight in the trunk. Any idea on how much I should put? 50 lbs? 100 lbs?
(3) Put the car in SNOW mode?
Anything else?

you add weight in the trunk to help dig the tires into the snow, for RWD
snow mode is for AWD only
best tip is to just drive slowly, watch your speed.
in an empty parking lot, try to put your car out of control so you will know what its like and know what to do when that happens.

How much weight do you recommend I put in the trunk?
yea lol. snow function is only for AWDs. the switch is at the same place as VDC OFF and trunk switch, just on the right side of the steering wheel. (if equipped)
regarding the weight, im not so sure since i never do that. im sure someone else would help you out there

ehhhh... shouldn't worry too much about weight..
but if you are expecting a big blizzard.. i would personally keep the gas tank at least half full.. (i usually gas-up the night before the blizzard)..
more gas, more weight in the back

I put a couple sand bags in the back of my crown vic in winter. Helps a little with traction, and can be used under the tires in necessary.
I got a cheap truck and garaged the g35, but after only a couple months I'm really thinking about winter tires. Having it sit for 6-7 months will likely break my heart.

Ok so we had the first snowstorm since I got my G coupe and I decided to take it out for spin. Well lets just say I've never seen a car slide so much on a snowy road. I'm not an expert at manual driving so I'm sure that didn't help but the OEM 19s were the major culprit.
So now I'm looking for a set of winter tires. My brother told me that he got 'winter/performance tires' and I see bunch of these online. The Blizzaks are also described as though they are good for any surface. Can anyone tell me how these compare to the winter only tires? Basically my aim is to have just one set of tires so I don't have to change them before and after winter. Do these types really provide good traction during winter while providing decent performance on dry roads?

A question on driving technique: I am entering my first winter with a G35 coupe. I am coming off a low torque AWD car, so I am being cautious to say the least. I have Blizzak WS60's mounted. Exiting my neighborhood there is a little incline to get up to the main street. There is also a stop sign! The car seems to handle very nicely on flat, straight snow but this morning there was some snow and slush covered ice at the intersection. Not good. What is the best way to get moving and up a slippery incline from a stop? Turn VDC off and let 'em spin? I am interested in advice that does not entail "get a winter car", please. Thanks!
As I've mentioned in all my other posts regarding this topic.
I daily drive my G coupe and in the wintertime here in chicago it's pretty darn bad.
It's held up against blizzards, ice storms, freezing rain, etc.
all you need is the right tires and just some common sense on how to drive in this kind of weather.
Not too bad really.

I drive my AWD through the winter up here in northern Michigan, and with the right tires (Nokian WR G2), I've never once had a problem, even through 12-15 inches of snow. Tires are by far the most important factor when driving in the winter, nothing else is even close.
