dumb n00b

So I brought my friend to a mechanic to pick up his 01 or 02 Maxima. He said there was a leak in the exhaust and something else, so when we asked about what was wrong, he said the engine blew and they replaced the whole motor. Seemed weird but whatever, probably a radiator problem or something. But then the mechanic went on to say that hes seen that a lot in Maximas, and started dissin on nissan and Infiniti...he said he just bought an FX too and said he didnt like it. said it was a good car for "younger kids but not for him." Ok seriously, now hes just talking out of his ***... Like I can see here and there an engine blown, I mean we did have a radiator fan recall and whatnot, but this guy just seems stupid. Thought id let u guys know and curious to see your reactions.

Yea, I don't see what you're getting at... he's probably a domestic humper. Majority of your average mechanics are. He always sounds like he ripped your buddy off, only a dumb *** mechanic would replace an entire engine without even asking the owner.

What a dick. I hear about people trying to chop up infinitis and nissans all the time. I truly just don't care because they walk back to there 1998 sunfire.

Yea, mechanics see a lot of VQ35s with oil consumption issues, etc... and the guys who've been around at the stealerships for a bit should remember all the issues even with the new motors. It's a great performing motor, but it has plenty of issues and flaws.

My local mechanic loves nissans and infiniti. he hates toyotas and hondas because they rarely break down.

Surprise you needed a new engine so I installed one....?

This is ridiculous, when you take your car into a shop and receive an estimate the repairs cannot exceed that estimate without your being notified. That's the law as I know it and the BBB should be notified of someone screwing his customers....plus I wouldn't pay the bill!

I think you guys are also forgetting that not all owners of these cars are enthusiasts on the forums, and they probably won't know or care to treat their cars with the care most people here do. Forums probably make up 15% of the new car owners for most models...
