I don't think it'll be like the Supra or Rx-7... But it will indeed be highly sought after, especially after all the young dead beats move on and buy something else and or totaled them out.. There will be a short supply of these cars that have been taken care of and garaged. More like a Zenki or Kouki 240sx.. In the meantime I'm just waiting..

The G35 definitely will not ever be in the realm of the MK4 Supra.. they regularly sticker in the high 20s for a beat high mileage one and in the 40s for a maintained high mileage one and close to the 100s for the crazy ones. This car has enough power to be a lot of fun to drive, has decent rear seat room and a classy, yet sporty look.

So...not a "classic" per se, but a fun alternative that is affordable enough that you can play around with it and make it your own. Considering that the 2003 are almost 14yrs old now.. that's not bad.

No because you can't make any serious numbers with these motors like you can with the RX-7, Supra, 300zx, etc.
I go with this answer. Beautiful car but not enough power to be on par with those cars.

Well, not all classics do. Some are classics because of styling, and some are classics as a platform (see S13, S14) As soon as a bunch of em get put in the junkyard we'll have a better chance of owning something that could be considered a classic.

Classic really just means times less, and as far as style, the G is already classic. Hasn't aged a bit IMO. I absolutely think it would have been "the whole package" if they put a V8 in it or boosted the VQ. Shiz woulda been fresh af.

I agree. And at the rate things are going, I think G's will eventually be one of those pretty cars you see on the road every now and then, that are hard to find. But I don't think they'll ever be a true "classic" they are neither the first of its kind, a groundbreaker, or early enough in the automotive industry. But it will be one of those cars that will always look amazing

Like the 240z is a classic car for the Z series, I feel like the G35 is the classic car for the G series (Q now).

Check back in about twenty years. Who can predict how many will still be around then or what the market demand for one will be?

You don't really need that much power to try to compare with other cars. The RX7 made less than 300hp, and the others made around 300hp (Supra, 3000GT, 300ZX, etc). The G comes with close to 300hp stock N/A. Add FI and you can easily reach 500hp with proper tuning. That's pretty good IMO.

I don't know if it will make classic status, but only time will tell. If I'm still alive in 2050 and I still have my G35, I feel like it will be a classic by then. I plan to keep mine fully stock with only the addition of aftermarket rims and a sound system.

What if we look at the q50 red sports vr30 engine? Obviously there aren't many being tuned and forced to put out massive numbers, but apparently it's really light and something like a gtr engine. Maybe the next 2jz

I think the 2003-4 MYs are the classics of the G/Q coupe series. Brembos, extensive use of aluminum in a mass production car of its day, 6spd, rwd, limited slip, pilot sports, exotic exhaust note. The 03/04s are the ones. They set the new bar of their day.

As far as classic, not per se, there are too many of them out there and what people are doing to them style-wise these days is taking away from their luster. The newer builds are tough on the eyes--not something you would ever do to a "classic". LOL.

The car is classically beautiful, but not a classic. It will be the kind of car that if you sell yours, every time you see one you'll say, "Damn, I should've kept that car! Beautiful!"

I disagree on the 2003-2004. I think its the 06-07's are better years since the body is still the same but many minor things have been added such as projector headlights, different tailight with trunk button, upgraded dash, sport front bumper, etc. Although some of these can be switched out, others can't without serious modification. Just my 2c.

But with most new cars not offering a 6-speed manual transmission anymore (including the new Q60), there's a small chance that a good clean G coupe may become a classic in 20-30years..
