So i was changing my spark plugs the other day, everything was going good untill in onto the 6th cylinder. I was bolting the black coil back down when the bolt snapped. So now i have part of a bolt stuck in the insert in my valve cover (i think). I tried my friends retractor kit but there is just NO room to work with on that cylinder.

So i have a few options:
1. try to find some otehr sort of retractro kit to get it out
2. somehow try to get the gold insert out and go buy another one.
^ this is the one i was thinking about doing but first how would i go about getting that insert out? whats it held in place by? and how would i make the new insert stay in place? Is there some sort of glue?

Please help guys

BTW my coil pack has been staying in place just by gravatiey i geuss i can say and i havent expereienced any misfires but i want to get a bolt on it to hold it down.

so you broke bolt for the bracket that holds the harness or that holds the coil itself down? you wont be able to get a seperate insert for starters......two, you dont need to be tightening a bolt that holds a coil down so tight....period. try to extract it.....if all else fails you can remove the valve cover to get to it the way you need. good luck.

 

broke-off does not necessarily mean it was over tightened... I broke one in the door just snugging it up when it was 35 degrees outside.

 

i have yet to break any bolt that size even with my electric impact and i work on these cars in every way possible every day for a living.......???? just stating my point. a 6mm bolt doesn't require 30ft lb to hold down a coil or a bracket.......lol

 

it was only about half way in. i wasnt tightning these down tight AT ALL. it was prolly 20 degrees outside and i think i have has cross threaded it. yes its my fault im not blaming anyone else. i wanted to get outt of the cold and was rushing towards the end. my fault and im gonig to pay for it. im not blaming it on the bolt or the car. Just asking if theres a way to fix it. I'm going to try and find another exreacting kit and try agian once it gets warmer out

 

If you can get your hands on a right-angle drill, you might be able to drill out enough to get an extractor in there.
