Question Couple of Questions

Hey all, I have some quick questions, Ill get straight to them...

What is the widest tire I can buy for my car? Will it affect anything in any way? My current size tire is 235/45/18

What brand of fogs/highbeams are the brightest without having to go HID? I bought a pair 2 months ago and barely notice any difference from OEM. Im looking for some really bright, pure white light output. Nothing obnoxious.

I want to lower my car moderately, Can I just change the springs and call it a day? or do i need to do some other crap?

Searching never seems to give you a straightforward answer to more specific questions. Thanks !!

I think 305 is largest you can go without modding.

The lower the kelvins the brighter the output. so 10k < 6k Youre looking for a 4k for a white

Yes just springs can and will lower it.

Thanks! The reason I ask about the tires is that some guy wouldnt sell me 245s. He said it was against shop policies to sell "wrong" sized tires to people. No clue whats going on there i just want some freakin tires.

search around to see what other sedans are running as far as wide wheels. depends on how aggressive you want to go as well. and you can just throw springs on and roll with it.....as long as your factory shocks dont give out or start making noise. i had my LF shock make a clunking noise over bumps once i put the tanabe springs on.......had to replace it....all the others are fine at 50k to this day.

This is only partly true. Kelvin only measures the color of the light, not it's intensity. They're all 35W bulbs, so they all put out the same amount of light. However, anything above about 5200K starts emitting some of that light into the ultraviolet range, which lowers the amount of visible light (the human eyeball has limits). So a 6000K bulb will appear to be brighter than a 10000K bulb. But the same holds true at the lower end of the spectrum. A 2500K bulb is going to be yellow, and some of it's light will be leaking into the infrared range, i.e. it won't be visible. So a 2500K bulb has a lower Kelvin rating than a 4300K bulb, but it's not brighter in the visible spectrum. BTW, 4300K is the stock color. Some think it's a little too yellow looking, so a 5000K might look a little whiter to you while maintaining pretty much the same amount of visible light (might be off by 1% or so).

He's a moron. The 245/45-18 is only 1.4% larger than stock, well within acceptable limits for tires. A bald stock sized tire is probably close to 1.4% off stock diameter. I've got 245/45-18 all around on my 05 AWD on Coupe wheels and the car runs just fine. I also run 225/55-17's in the winter and they're 1.6% larger than stock, also without any problems.
