Replica body kits/ forum vendor kits/ebay kits.

Ok, so do all of these guys just use the same mold?

I was able to get a view side by side of an ebay Nismo front.. Unpainted in polyurethane. then next to it was a Klumzyee Nismo front unpainted in polyurethane. Then next to that was another poly Nismo front from either strafe or arch I forgot which one.

All 3 were identical. Not one difference at all. So I'm assuming all other kits are pretty much the same mold as all the other vendors except for the new poly sides and new trunks that are coming out.

Not trying to cause any drama or war or price fighting between vendors. So please be mature and don't get all butt hurt..

Just asking here.

fit is the biggest difference between originals and knock offs. you have to either hope you get lucky or see if other people have bought the knock offs to see if they are going to fit well

Well a lot of people have had luck with the replicas.. If they're exactly identical bumpers the fitment should be the same on all, no?

Just because they look the same, doesn't mean they came from the same mold. They are replicas after all, someone made a mold of the original and then someone saw that and made a mold of that and so on.

Fitment is key though, doesn't necessarily mean if you pay top dollar for a body kit it's going to fit bang on (although there's a better chance)

from what I've heard with my friends ordering ebay kits it's hit and miss, sometimes you get really lucky on a good price and good fitment but often that's not the case.

I think the general consensus on the forum here is the same as I stated above, hit and miss...

for example there is a local shop here that sells kits for the coupe and I bought my Nismo replica front from them, unbelievable prices, brand new for $195 and it fit like a glove, as good as any replica from any of the vendors here... but then again you just gotta know where to look at the end of the day

i would say if you don't care how it looks then order a replica. Some are good. Mine fit really good until i started hitting tire walls drifting and cones too. It depends really on your purpose

ebay body kits dont fit right

I bought a full body kit from ebay once for my old carr and it was a horrible fit. There were gaps and the rear bumber did not fit properly at all. Think long and hard before you order full body kits from ebay or make sure it has worked for someone else. I could see how a lip might not be as big of a problem though because it just goes around the bottom of the bumper. I had issues where my fron grill would stick out an inch out from under the hood and the rear bumber, there wasd a huge gap between the tail lights and the bupber. Be carefull!

Its the quality of the kits. These molds could well be older molds from the original distributor. Also the quality of fiberglass. Some will thinly layer the kits and it saves on prep time and how easily it will crack. Another effect is what type of releasing agents and how they overall make the mold.

So are you looking strictly at poly? or is FG an option?
