Thoughts on this product?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Infin...ht_3499wt_1165

What are your thoughts on it? Will it cause the filter to clog?

Isn't the engine aluminum? In that case, a magnet would be useless.

The engine block is aluminum. It has steel sleeves, steel crank, steel bearings, steel lifters, steel cams and the list goes on. All those parts have magnetic properties. Nothing internal is aluminum. Aluminum wears too fast so all contacting parts are steel or chromoly of some sort. So the magnet would work. Is it worth it to get it? Now that's debatable. I change the oil on the scheduled intervals. So I don't sweat it.

if you want something like this on your filter.

Crack open one of the old Hard Drives and get the magnets out of there.

Slap them bitches to you filter and you good to go.

Might wanna duck tape them also cuz if they fall off wen you hit a bump or something then all that **** that they supposedly held on the other side will be released and death comes to your engine.

the filters job is to filter, putting these magnets on the filter wont do much. Many good filters filter to 10 microns which is very small.

If I remember an experiment we did in jr. high school, a steel plate will block a magnetic field. This thing might do nothing at all except separate you from $25. I have magnetic oil drain plugs on my motorcyles that sit in the engine oil. They do pick up small amounts of steel fines. They are so small it looks like metalic sludge.

^^^+1 the magnetic oil drain plug is probably enough to keep our oil clean. It seems to me that these oil filter magnets are just overkill.

^what?
If you are at the point where you need magnets on your filter than your engine must be spitting nuts and bolts out.

And it's also cuz you prolly using Fram filters.
