(sorry for the pics...won't stay rotated for some reason):
The G35 had yellowed headlights when we bought it last night. Not a big deal, I just figured I'd pick up a set off eBay or whatever. Decided to give this stuff a try (money back guarantee):

Here are the results:

can't go wrong with a product with your car pictured on the label.. but why the blue tape? i have used this a couple of times and it is not that abrasive enough to scratch your paint or discolor it.. even then i never go beyond my headlights when i scrub..
Can't hurt anything to tape it.
looks great... I need to pick up that product. Cause my driver side headlight is developing that discoloration.

Take the front Ford plate off ASAP... Headlights look great now. The yellowing in the clearance strip is impossible to get off, even after opening the headlights. It's basically just yellowing of the plastic...

How funny. I did the same exact thing yesterday too!! I have an '06 and I was starting to develop a little haze near the top. Nothing bad, but I wanted to keep. It looking sharp especially after I spent 12 straight hours last Friday polishing and sealing my car.
I also taped off the headlights. I used a pc7424 on mine, so it's imposssible to not get on the paint. Don't listen to the person that questined your technique. You did the right thing. Came out great!!

My reasoning was as follows:
I can NOT tape it off and run the risk of a piece of debris or something somehow finding its way onto the pad and possibly scratching the paint...
...or...
I CAN tape it off and eliminate virtually any risk of that or anything similar happening.
It's really not even a question if you contemplate that there is always a possibility of something like that (paint damage) occurring. So I guess my thought would be: Why WOULDN'T you tape it off...?
To each their own though.
