Found out my G coupe had been in an accident :(

So I guess this isn't that big of a deal but it still bums me out. I had my car detailed yesterday and the guy pointed out evidence that the car had been repaired and resprayed. There were also several panels that had been fixed too so it was obvious that something went down. My left rear quarter is all freshly painted...and the rear bumper had been blended but not all that well. The front passenger fender had also been resprayed and there was clear overspray on my front grille. Another thing he pointed out was the paint on the left rear quarter looks flawlessly smooth compared to the factory painted trunk lid. Several of the 19's have been refinished...and one has drip marks in the clear coat. Whoever did the work actually did an ok job with a few exceptions.

Oh well, I'm not going to cry about it forever...it's just disappointing to know the car isn't as cherry as I originally thought. It still looks great. I just wish I knew what happened in it's previous life. Also, it goes to show that a clean carfax doesn't prove anything...except that the accident wasn't reported.

True true.. thats the dangers with buying cars. hell, I bet 70% of the cars out there have had damage done to them in some shape or form that hadn't been reported to insurance because it was 1) either less than their deductible or b) worried about resale value

I went through something similar when I bought mine...guy boasted the clean carfax and I even took home a copy of it when I bought the car...the kicker I didnt catch was the date of the carfax...he ran the carfax 6-months before I bought it and must have kept it in a file anticipating a sale. I found out about a month after I bought it and took to the dealer and they mentioned that driver's side door forward had been replaced and repaired....I called him out on it and he never replied of course. Bummed as well, but it seems to drive well still.

Same thing with my car. Carfax was clean but I noticed the undertray was brand new and one of the front fenders had overspray.

B. don't sweat the small stuff. You love your car and that's all that matters at this point.

Dude that Sucks Brian...

But I can imaging that your G wont be a Stock G for long...

I know my car was hit by my own friend in his driveway. The insurance took care of it and I made sure it was right.

I still look at the rear quarter panel with disgust knowing its not the original one, but only once in a while now.

I bought my used 05 as an off lease vehicle and it had a clean carfax, but there was overspray on the rear fenders and somewhat on the hood from where it looks like the front and rear bumpers were resprayed. I think dealers just do this to cheaply repair normal scratches that come from careless owners but I wish they'd put some care into the job.

Yes, I bought it from a Hyundai dealer. I am not going to sweat it. The car drives fine so I'm hoping it was only body damage. I was just disappointed to hear the news. It's like someone giving you a queer look in the locker room. Sure it didn't hurt anything...but you just feel violated.

It certainly isnt a cause for concern. As long as it looks and drives the same, i wouldnt mind. I crashed my car a month ago and now its better than ever.
