Unhappy Acceleration Issue

I was driving down the freeway last week, and an WRX flew past me. When I floored my car, It started to Skip. Kinda Like it's Surging.. Any news on what this would be? Alternator? Battery? Mechanical?

What kind of intake? Sounds like your engine not getting enough fresh air; maybe an air leak.

Sounds like you have an automatic. Flooring it sometimes, the car will lag. Maybe you should just shift into manual mode....

When I had an automatic, and floored it, the car would lag. I had to lightly tap it 1st, then floor it... Then the car would take off. (car would downshift)...

Same with a manual car. If I floor it, it would go no where. I would have to downshift to make it go.

If you floor the 5at in D mode it will down shift to the lowest gear possible, and will not have skipping issues, It would lag a bit reading your input then down shifting, but its not that bad

Might sound stupid, just trying to help.. but it isn't related to wheel skip in anyway is it? I know I've jammed the gas a couple times and had the wheels jump before taking off (once really badly in my old Prelude). Or is it in any way related to old tires without grip? (the tires can't put the power down to the ground sufficiently?)

That is normal for the 5AT. I used to describe it as the car felt like it was winding up and then would leap forward. There are two solutions a SprintBooster or a valve body kit for the transmission. I personnaly have been running a SprintBooster for over a year now and am very pleased with it. It will remove the hesistation between shifts when in auto mode. In Manumatic mode it makes the shifts super quick with minimal rpm drop.

Your car didn't wanna play with the WRX. Seriously though, considering that we don't know the condition of the road/tires/weather, perhaps just your VDC in action before your car slips?

Simple fix is floor it (TWICE). Do it real quick. It worked on my previous AT cars.

Floor it once and it will do nothing, let go and floor it again and it will take off. You have to play with it a little to get it right.
