Ca smog time
So I got the infamus re-register with smog check letter yesterday.
anyone have any problems with this? i am wondering if they will still pass my car if i have the SES light on... and if they check for CARB-EO stickers on intakes- etc is it the same ride as the trip to the STATE REF?

At the time I did my license renewal I had my Stillen intake on, I asked the mechanic if he'd like to see my carb sticker. He just smiled and said, "No Thanks!" It's not the same as the Ca. State Ref., these people are in business for themselves. I watched the guy doing my test closely, he never even checked for things like HFC's. With the SES, disconnect the negative side of you battery for an hour, that should reset everything. Just take you G in super clean and be accommodating,
helps too! LOL

I used to work for an energy drink company, i gave the guy half a case of drinks...he wasnt even looking or talking about my car LOL. I do remember that the older asian men who are smog owners seem to the most stringent, they check underneath the car when they put the sniffer in the tail pipe.
I have a stock intake if you're local and can recommend a shop in the ghetto that passes for $40 bucks and doesnt check

After market intakes will not cause you to fail the test as long as everything is hooked up properly. If the guy tries to fail you for that, he hasn't read the smog check manual. Now for the high flow cats, if the guy doesn't get down and look, he may pass it. But sometimes the ecu will through a deficiency code for them.
If you disconnect the battery, yes it will reset the light, but it will also cause you to fail the inspection for the monitors not being set. Most of the times you can drive about 25 to 50 miles to reset them. Hope that helps. Good luck with your inspection.
