Thanks walkshtj, I did see the DIY (very well put together) on painting the brakes. I am considering doing that myself.

My 06x's brakes. With proper prep...they have held up 40k miles like this. I do need to pull he wheel and clean from time to time.
I just wanted them to look clean and not stand out

Those look really good! I don't see that hideous rusty ring either!

It's funny how the OP says "I can't afford better brakes. What should I do?" and half the people say "Brembos, StopTech, Akebonos FTW," completely passing over the fact that he's not looking to buy better brakes, just spruce up the ones he has.
But for the other half, I mostly agree with. Get some hi temp paint, maybe something subdued like a dull silver gray, and go to town on the calipers. Not too expensive.

i see that you guys are all saying high temp paint. does all the paint have to be high temp? or can just the bottom 2-3 coats be high temp. and then the top coat (color of choice) can be regular paint? or willl the regular paint still come off?

brakes get real hot....any regular paint will bake/melt off. no matter how many coats of high temp paint, a top coat of regular paint with still get hot.

i saw a mustang today with those ebay plastic brake cover things and it looked RETARDED!!
From 20 feet away it looked like a model car driving down the street.
