Oil Consumption owners chime in

I was just wondering if you had your motor replaced by Infiniti because of OC, are you still having any problems with your engine? Curious because I'm picking up a G this weekend with a new motor from Infiniti. Should I be worried about anything? Sorry for the noob question.

The new motors come from japan they have different internals. You should not have any issues with the new motor.

Mine has issues...many do. However, some don't. Read the main OC threads here and one on my350z. Good Luck with yours.

Make sure your dealer did this on your new? (lol) VQ:

What kind of issues do you/ other oc owners have? What can I do to check if this car will have the same issues?

Many revup VQ longblock replacements still have OC, some worse or better than their original, some got lucky with no more OC. There's even factory original revup VQ's out there that never experience (and still don't) OC. Go figure

My 06 6MT sedan is at the dealer right now, getting a new long block because of OC.

I took it in to start the OC test a few months ago after I noticed it was getting pretty low on oil between changes. On the last (final) checkup, they said it consumed 1.3 Qts in 1,800 miles...and now I'm on my way to a new engine.

So should I be scared purchasing this car considering it only has 1500 miles on it? ( It has a warranty for 12,000 or 1 year. )

What year and how many original miles on this G? You may still have factory powertrain warranty left, which is 6yr/70K mi which ever comes first. Factory warranty follows the G not the original owner.
