I agree but a gallon of 91 is almost $4 where I roll. I hear that in the ghetto (New Jersey) a gallon of 91 is about $1.

Sounds like an urban myth. No way anyone's selling gas for $1 a gallon these days ghetto or not.

Haha and oh yeah.. the insurance isn't even in MY name.. it's under my mom's name. If it were in my name it'd be a couple hundred more.

Anyways. I only use premium.
Jeez man, I pay $700/year for full-coverage.

Also, yes OP, premium should be used in these cars.

I'm not new to performance vehicles as I also own a sportbike and a Grandprix but every vehicle is different.
Since Nissan recommends using premium fuel (91/92) I suggest that's what you use. Nissan isn't in the oil business so they don't have an alterer motive.

$700 a year for full coverage? WTF? Here in Socal, I pay $800 every 6 months. 21st century. Clean driving record.

I remember paying 1200 a year for my s2k.

Every car I have had, which is only two, I used premium. I always liked how the car feels and performs when I use premium. But check this out, I am currently stationed in South Korea and the octane level for regular fuel is 93 and the premium octane is 98. And I am paying the same prices here as I would in the states but at a high octane level. Which makes you wonder, why cant the US offer a high octane?

When your current insurance policy is about due, shop around. My son switched from Farmers to Auto Club and saved $800 a year with exactly the same coverage. Being over 25 will lighten the load too but you need to shop the insurance companys.... What was this thread about....LOL

I run 89 most of the time. I feel it's a decent cost/performance compromise. It's not a matter of not being able to afford it, I just don't need 100% of the car's performance potential 99% of the time, so running premium is just a waste. Premium fuel isn't 'better', it just helps your car resist knock -- something the ECU can do anyway. Running a lower octane will not hurt your car, nor is running premium somehow treating it any better.

Yep, $355/6 months on State Farm. Maybe Oklahoma is less expensive since most people ride horses to work?

Not sure why they would offer such a high octane. I don't think 99.9% of cars would benefit from using 98.

What is the altitude where you're stationed? You will usually find higher octane as you get closer to sea level. Although I think the highest sold at regular pumps in the US is 93.

Yeah.. it depends on where you live too. If full coverage were only $700 for me then I'd definitely get full coverage haha.

He lives in Oklahoma haha. We live in SoCal. HUGE difference. My mom doesn't have that clean of a driving record, but it should be better by now. She got in a pretty big accident like 4 years ago which is probably why I get to pay $900 for liability only hah. It'd be even more if it were under my name, but it's always been under her's. We have State Farm.
