Why would dealership try its best to refuse warranty?
Why would dealership try its best to refuse warranty?
I thought they really like to repair any warranty problem, since infiniti will pay them to do the repair. Free money over there. Metro infiniti, I visited, tried its best to refuse to repair for me. Why?
yeah Its Infiniti as a whole who says yeah or nay for that, not the dealership most times. If they put in the system that you have mods that would void that piece that is messed up they could void that part of your warranty. It's a hit or miss thing with the dealership's/mech/and customer service rep. I have a local Nissan dealership that helped me out a lot when my Xterra had problems. I had about 5k worth of mods on it. They did good faith warranty work all the time for me. Another Nissan Dealership on Island I heard refused a couple of my buddies who had similar mods as mine.
If you bought the car new from them and you are close to the time running on your warranty, it is possible that the car was reported sold to infiniti by the dealer to collect incentive $, rebate $, alotment for more cars, etc, and then sold to you a few months later. The warranty starts when the dealer first reports the sale to the manufcturer. Many "straw" purchases occur in the industry. Go to another dealer or check other receipts for service and look to see in the "in service date" is the same as the date it was first purchased.

Sometimes it depends on the repair itself. Dealerships are limited to flat rate times for R/R (repair or replace) and alot of the time, that doesn't include diagnosis, troublesome bolts (cross-threaded, rusted, etc), parts availability (they don't want cars sitting on their lot waiting for ordered parts). The tech may have two hours involved in a repair that the manufactuere is only gonna pay them 1 hour because that's what they averaged it out to be. Then the tech (and service manager/writer) get pissed because they could have been spending their time doing gravy (no brainer) work, like oil changes or spark plug changes and make real money. Then you have to file the warranty claim. Just because you or the tech feels it's a valid claim, the manufacturer may see it differently and give them hard time about it. Then you get into resubmitting, getting authorizations and other BS. If the auto dealership is anything like the motorcycle dealership I worked for many years, warranties are just a PITA from the time the customer rolls into the parking lot. That might be a reason that they shy away from warranty work. Or, it could be something I just conjured up in my mind. Either way, hope I helped out a little.

It's a hit and miss thing with our dealerships, we've seen warranty work denied because the member had a HKS exhaust which has nothing to do with the OC issue the G35 had....and Nissan backed the dealership. Some dealerships are mod friendly although I've only had window motor issues and they did ask why I wasn't using them for service? I use the Nissan dealership around the corner cause they know me, mechanics are better trained and prices are 30+% lower than Infiniti....that's why and I told them!

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

Nissan will do regular maintenance and some repairs on the G but will not do warranty work. You might have mis-read some of the posts referring to this.
