I've mentioned before that I just got my wife a Black 2010 Mercedes Benz E Coupe which shares the garage with my Black 2003 G35 coupe and honestly the G coupe doesn't look the least bit dated. At the time the G35 came out C&D called it one of the best looking coupes ever and in my mind at least, it remains so. When a car can still turn heads 8 years after it came out, that's saying something. In my opinion the G35 saved Infiniti. I'm just a little jealous of my wife's ride.

C&D also seem biased towards Ford. It always seems they win no matter the comparison, which seems rigged too. Corvettes are always compared to higher end cars, Porsche, etc (which I guess is their competition anyway) and similarly priced Mustangs (Shelby, Rouch, Saleen) are always compared to the Camaro SS or something. And the Fusion getting high praise, the new Taurus, they're the reason the old Taurus was off and on the no. 1 sales list, that thing was a piece of crap.

Surprised the Mazda3, which did get improvements over the years, didn't top the Focus.

Sorry my friend!!!
The Miata was a great car when it came out in 1989. I own a July 1989 build 1990 Miata and in the 20 years I have owned it I have never had a single mechanical problem with the car. It is easy to work on and most Miataphiles do all there own maintenance. It was never made to go fast in a straight line. It comes to life when you hit the twistys...heel and toe...keep the revs up in the power band...slam that short stock shifter thru the gears. My car will turn 21 years old this December and I enjoy driving it every bit as much today as I did in 1990. I don't enjoy driving it more that my 2003 G coupe, they are just two very different cars meant to provide a very different driving experience. The Miata is the largest selling sportscar ever made and Oh Yeh the original body style was designed in California and then shipped to japan for the mechanicals to be added.
