Help choosing 06 or 07!
Hey all, I'm interested in owning my first g35 sedan sport but do not know which one to choose, can you please help me? I know the interior is redisigned and engine cranks out more ponies in the 07 but which one should I really go for? I want the car to be a sedan sport with 6spd manual tranny. I have $20k cash (do not want monthly payments).
Thanks for any kind of help you may provide.!!

It's going to be almost impossible to find a 2007 G35S for $20k in your area. Auto-trader lists most of them selling between $25k to $28k.
They are both very nice cars. Get the one you can afford within the conditions you have already set for yourself. Probably the 06 in this case since you want to pay cash and have no payments.

Okay maybe I was off 2grand:

So which one should I get? Is there much difference on the 07 that would push me to choose it against the 06?
Anyone with either cars please put ur input thanks

Well that looks like a good deal but check the car out with a fine-tooth comb. If you can afford the 07 then there is no good reason to get the 06.
There were a lot of changes. Do a search.
It will be worth more down the road too.

I actually just went through this debate with myself on the X model (albeit I planned on financing approx. $12k for either an 06 or 07).
To cut to the chase, I just recently (this week!) purchased an 06 35x rather than 07, and here's why:
I, much like you, budgeted to spend around $20k-$22k. After several weeks of research, searching various used car sites and speaking with dealerships, I determined that for the amount of money I wanted to spend I was essentially choosing between a "higher end" 2006 and a "lower end" 2007 (I'm speaking in terms of physical appearance, mechanical condition, amount of miles, etc).
I was able to find several 2006's under $20k, and several 2007's at around $20k, but when I looked at the Carfax I often found that they had been in accidents (which is a non-starter for me). I also asked several Infiniti dealerships to have their service department look up the VIN for me to pull service records (any Infiniti dealership can look up service records for work done on a car at any other Infiniti dealership) and found that many of the cars needed $2-3k of work right off the bat. Essentially, the deals that looked too good to be true were, surprise, actually too good to be true. I strongly strongly suggest you take the time to look into these details -- I almost was ready to move on a car until I got the service records and saw that the previous owner had chosen to ignore the scheduled maintenance at 30k miles and the car needed new brakes all around, new belts, etc.
At the end of the day, I decided that I wanted to get a car that is in the best shape possible given my budget, and that was bound to be a 2006. I was able to get a 2006 G35x with all the bells and whistles except navi, 38k miles with very detailed service records showing that everything is in tip top shape, certified by Infiniti (I now have over 2 years of warranty which I like for the peace of mind and the car has been through a thorough inspection) for $20.5k. A pretty good deal I think given what I saw on the market. Could I have gotten a similar 2007, sure. But I decided that the extra 20hp and updated interior weren't worth another $5k or so to make sure the car was in good shape.
Sorry for the long post, but figured I'd share my very recent experience.

Good post Goldie. You put into detail what I was trying to say (without having personally gone through the experience).
I was hinting that $22k for an 07 Sport seems a little to good to be true, hence my 'fine-tooth comb' comment.
Cooking Monster...stick to your budget and you will be happiest.

Thanks rpm, I actually hadn't seen your post until I submitted mine, but I totally agree with your comment.
Cooking Monster, don't be fooled by the price tag. Check out all the details (I found it helpful to go through Infiniti dealerships because they can give you these details...even if they may not want to, I found that with a little pushing they will) and stick with your budget. I had a huge internal struggle between my wallet and my desire to have the sexy new model with the bigger engine, but a little practically doesn't hurt every now and again

love my 06 but 1 thing to note is if u get a 6mt 06 it will be rev up and have the chance of having the oil burning issue so make sure u got warranty with it etc
