It is a poor attempt by Nissan to make the tranny sporty. Extending the lever height about an inch and adding some weight, you'd reduce notchiness and resistance to get into gear.
I've actually grown on to the notchy gearbox. For some reason it makes the car feel sportier. Anyways, IMO a lower **** looks great and feels great when shifting. Might be a bit notchier, but the throws are a bit shorter. It's all preference though. When I installed my TWM shift ****, the added weight actually reduced a bit of notchiness and made my 1-2 shift a lot cleaner.

I have the Nismo Ti but I recently just picked up an OEM G37 **** .. so I switch it up between the Nismo, G37 and stock 35 **** (depending on the mood)

side note .. the Nismo isn't the best in extreme temps (hot or cold) .. also .. I've had the G37 **** in for a little while now and I'll admit I like it a LOT better than the OEM 35
