Can't decide

Ok, so next year I'll be goin down to Florida for college. I have 52k miles on my 04 5at coupe. I'll be putting on a year just driving from KS to FL. I want to take the g, but I dont know how long it'll hold up. 1. Should I go for a g37? 2. I also want more power but don't want to turbo or supercharge it, so would a stroker kit be reliable? 3. And my sprint booster shorted out my accelerator and throttle body so I had to pay 1k to replace them, are there any other throttle response "programmers" that would be better? Right now I have a z-tube with pop charger and test pipes
And don't flame me cuz I'm 17. I work two jobs to pay for my own stuff.

Dude, honestly, keep your car stock, and don't beat the **** out of it, and it will last you just fine. G37 is a nice car, and I made the switch from a G35 to a G37S, but if I was to do it all over again, I would have stuck with the G35. The car felt lighter, and a bit better balanced...I can't explain it, I just miss that car and the G37 just doesn't give me the same feeling, and even though it's faster, it's not as exciting to drive. Modifying the car from stock, especially doing any kind of FI, or a stroker kit, will decrease reliability. I can't help you out on the programmer end of things. Just my 2 cents.

Driving the distance you posted won't hurt or damage your coupe, just take good care of her....

I'm curious how your Sprint Booster shorted out your accelerator and throttle body. I'm surprised that it didn't fry your ECM since it falls between the accelerator and the TB. What did you have to replace? I also run a Sprin Booster and if there is a problem I'd like to know before it costs me a grand!! Anybody out there have a similar problem?

It's just that I'll be putting 12k on it per year which is sad becasue that is 48k miles over 4 years not including driving around

That's not a whole lot of miles for a modern car. Just save your money, and leave it stock for maximum reliability :-) I went from a 35 to a 37, and like I said, if I could do it all over again, I'd stick with the G35.

Highway miles are the easiest miles the car will ever see. But, if you are 17 and have enough for college and a G37, shoot, go for it, or maybe go for a Porsche.

Focus on college instead...and paying off your debt (if you have any).

Hoepfully when you graduate you land a good job...then go buy whatever you want as a reward.

When i was in college....saw tons of nice cars trashed by drunk college kids. As a result, I didn't even have a car at college. Saved tons of cash and put it towards my loans.

Of course...if I was 17, I'd want a g37 at college too

Yeah, going to college, whatever car you own is the best car to have.

If you need more power, put your foot further to the floor. You don't need any more power than that.

I believe that the main thing is also if you keep the G35 put the mileage on it and in the long run plan to sell it you won't take as big of a hit on resale versus buying a G37 and putting more mileage on that and losing of course a lot more money on it.

Again this would just be a personal opinion it's all up to you bro!
