Engine bay trim panels missing.
Engine bay trim panels missing.
I've got an 06 6MT Coupe. Got it used with 75k miles on it. The engine bay looks really clean but the panel that covers up the master cylinder etc seems to be missing. The one covering the battery is in place. I think the car was wrecked on the left front quarter panel and maybe that's why it is missing. I don't really care about this but looking at a number of pics in the gallery here it looks like this panel is missing on a lot of cars. Makes me wonder if it is missing or if there was never one there? There is definitely one on my 07 G35X. Any thoughts?

they dont come with a cover... you can buy a "JDM" cover which is identical to the battery cover, but that can fit over your master cylinder. people buy this to clean up the engine bay.
to answer your question... its not there because it didnt come with it from the factory.
p.s. nice disclaimer lol

Thank you sir. Its really an odd design feature to leave that one area exposed. Again, it doesn't bother me but it is odd. The 07 X looks a lot better under the hod.....of course it has the dual intakes which are cool too.
couldn't help myself

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

Its a way to cut total cost on the car. Think of how many g's were sold and then multiple that by atleast $35 and then the added cost of stowing them and such.

I was surpised that this car did not have hood pistons. However, several thoughts came to mind. First, I've had a number of Nissans and they tend to use cheap lift pistons and I've had a number of them fail. I'd rather have a stick than blown lift pistons, because with blown lift pistons you really do have to find a real stick.
Second, leaving the lift pistons off saves weight.
Finally, these cars have a very classic hood and quarter panel design. Kind of like the old Jags and Austin Healys. So maybe the 'stick' is in keeping with these 1960's era sports cars. Its a theme.
But leaving the cover off of the brake system just looks odd. It looks like something is missing. If the issue was really cost, they should have left the panel off of the battery side. At least then it would have looked consistent.
Not a big deal obviously. But still very puzzling.

Master cyl. cover
Okay, I purchased the unmodified cover from CZP and as it states there are not any instructions or clips. so what is the secret here and where does the "L" bracket go? Or does anyone have the instructions?

The picture on the web site shows holes for mounting screws. Of course, the cover also says 'battery' on it. I don't see how that peice is going to fit over the brake line area. The site says it will have to be modified.
I think I'm just going to steal the one out of my wife's G35X and see if it will fit. She'll certainly never know the difference.

They aren't screw holes, they are actually holes for push clips. Look at your battery cover, the same holes are there. You DO need to trim it because the windshield cowl differs on the Japanese car. It's not hard though, I used a hack saw.
If you need me to draw a picture of where to cut send me a PM, but if I know there is photos and a DIY on the forum... but that would involve searching wouldn't it.

If you really want to make your life easy...just get the CZP already modified one. It does come with the clips, bracket, and an instruction booklet. It took me 15 min to install. Couldn't be easier. I did one thing that the instructions did not include and that required drilling a hole in the upper left in the plastic cowl cover to line up with the battery cover hole and then inserted a clip. Someone on the forum was making labels to cover up the battery label if they are still around I might be interested.
Well that's one way of looking at it....^....but there were a few things they should have deleted before they excluded hood dampers and the left side brake cylinder cover. Who needs a cup holder in the back seat, cause who can sit back there for any length of time but a small child? I didn't need a Infiniti pen or two key chains, yea those things are nice but not needed like dampers rather than a stick....

Yeah, I would rather have an OEM perfect fit brake cover than the one I have now. Which can basically move out of place if you touch it.
I would rather have that cover, instead of the two potted plants I received a week after I purchased my car.
