Another SLIP, VDC, ABS thread-please help!
Hey, i've been searching for a while but couldnt find an answer and im in need of a speedy response.
heres the situation:
I had aftermarket rims on my car without tpms sensors. i put the oem rays back on (2006 coupe). the tpms warning light went off, but now when i decelerate from 35-40, the brake pedal seems stiffer and when i slow down to about 15 or so, the abs system cycles (i can feel it in the brake pedal). after a couple of these types of stops, the slip, abs, and vdc all came on and the brake pedal no longer felt wierd due to the cycle (my guess is because the abs system turned off due to the light being on). I did not hit any wires (or sensors) while changing the wheels.
the previous wheels were:
255-35-20, 275-35-20
the stock wheels have the tires:
225-35-19, 245-40-19
i had the stock wheels on the car before the aftermarket wheels and had no problems...
i tried doing a pedal reset and while in the first ten second sequence, about halfway through the SES light blinked 4 or so times slowly. (thus making it unable to do a pedal reset)
what is the problem?

get the codes checked and report back. i havent had any problems with my aftermarket 18s or 20s. on ocassion my tpms light will come on when im driving on the hwy for 30-45 min but thats cuz i dont have my tpms sensors in my 20s. and ive never had any issues with the pedal feel or abs kickin in at any time. sounds like you have another issue cuz the wheels wont cause that.

it was after i took the 20s off and put the oem 19s back on... the abs system cycles continuously (i can hear the motor whirring while driving down the road and feel the abs kicking in when i hit the brakes- all until the abs/slip/vdc lights come on which im assuming is when the abs system turns itself off due to some sort of malfunction)
the only thing i can think of is a abs/speed sensor on one or multiple wheels... but why when i change the wheels? i didn't hit any of the wires or anything...

that is odd....the dealer is the only place that can check for codes in the system. the lil scanners at advanced auto wont pick it up unless the ses light is on. you will just atleast have to pay the diag charge unless you want them to fix whatever it is. or, you can lmk what it is and ill do what i can to help.
It is because of the overall diameter difference between your fronts and your rears. You front tires are way smaller than your rears. You need to do the correct size on the fronts. 225/40R19. That will fix your problem

I have the EXACT same issue. I have 255/35 rear and 235/35 front. The profile or series of the tire is completely ok. My ABS/VDC/SLIP lights were coming on LONG before I decided to go with a lower profile tire.
Anyways, so far my next option is to replace my ABS sensors. Nothing else has really helped. I had the Dealership try to bullsh!t me and say my TPMS sensors were causing my dash to light up. I laughed at the tech, 2003 models didn't have TPMS. My point, the dealership wants to make money. Don't trust them. Period.

they told me it was the abs module, yet my abs still works at low speeds (but malfunctions) until i get on the highway for a minute or so then the lights will come on and the system turns off
If I put rays from another G on my car that have TPMS, will my TPMS light come on? ( i am thinking of putting the front wheels from my buddy's car that have the correct tire size on my car to see if that fixes the problem with the abs)

^If I'm not mistaken, the TPS sensors would have to be reprogrammed for your car. You can tell if your tire sizes are wrong buy using the calculator stickied in the wheels & tires section.

UPDATE: As of now, the car is fixed.
My buddy has an 05 coupe with the rays, but has 225-40-19 tires on the front, so I put his front wheels on my car and drove down the road and the ABS system did not malfunction. So I figured I needed larger tires. I put my wheels back on my car and left to go home. The ABS system did not malfuction anymore. The problem seemed to have dissapeared. I felt this was wierd, so I pulled over and restarted the car and got o to about 50mph and slowed down past 30kmh (when the abs would cycle) and it did not malfunction again, so my best guess is that the sensors reprogrammed themselves or something of that nature.
So far, no problems and I am running my incorrect tire sizes up front (225-35-19) again like it was when I bought the car.
My next test is to bring the car up to speed on the highway and see if the ABS will malfunction.

Nice posts. I have a 2005 G35 coupe. My 3 lights on the dash went on today. I turned off the car right away and could hear something still running. It was the ABS motor, the siver box under the hood close to the steering wheel, making a humming noise. I turned the car back on and still the lights were light. Then drove a few miles, turn the car off and back on and it has been good as new for the rest of the day... 3 more start ups that is. I do have 20 inch rims. But I have been running those for 3 years. I wonder how long my car will stay fixed. I do plan to run a computer check soon... at the... uggggg... stealership. I don't want to go. I hate dealerships. I will call a few local shops first before last resorting the dealership.
Check your brake fluid level. I had those same symptoms, and even though the fluid was above the MIN line, adding fluid and resetting the ECU made the problem (or indicator of a problem) go away.
