How would you run Infiniti?
How would you run Infiniti?
First, I would cease all negotiations on the Daimler Benz deal and bring Nismo back involved together with Renault.
Second, I would find out who is responsible for the oil burning issue that plagued some first gens and fire them, and do everything possible to strip them of any accreditation in the respective field.
Third, right now bring out the four door GTR, R38T, under 3600 lbs curb weight and 550bhp in RWD and AWD. The car will be nothing short of a four door GTR without compromise and the transmission will be revised by Nismo to withstand 9 second 1/4 mile passes stock. 6 speed manual will be optional.
Forth, all RWD cars will have staggered 19" or above wheels with at least 285s in the rear and 255s in the front and all cars will be lowered at least 1". For some reason Infiniti doesn't realize it will actually increase sales making the cars look a lot better. AWD cars excluding the AWD GTR will have 265s or more all around.
Fifth, ALL cars will have a .26 drag coefficient or lower just like the 04-06 Aero sedans.
and cut the weight of every current car by at least 150lbs.
So what would everyone else do??

Yesss, Man this just made my day.
One of the things I would do is
Have the ability for people to pay like 240 bucks. (2 hours of labor) For lifetime diagnostics of your infiniti as long as you own it. But its not transferable to the next owner. Any Year or Infiniti does not matter.
So in essence you pay 240 bucks for unlimited diagnostics.
This would easily entice people to come to the dealership to check there car out. And in the end will probably make more money for the dealer.
oh and OP- The whole revup burning oil thing has to do with a supplier, not really the design I believe.

I figured. It's the bastards that supplied the pistons and rings.
I'm really surprised at how good the 4 door GTR looks. I had not seen it before. I particularly like the front end on the red one as opposed to the current. A four door would allow you to scare the sh*t out of four people not just a single passenger. It would have to be very $$$$ though.

I'm relatively sure Nissan knows where the issue with the OC came from cause it's cost them some major $$. I love the GT-R and even the sedan but she needs to lose some weight, 500 lbs would be nice. The right way to run Infiniti would be honestly so their customers would have confidence in their service with the same service charges used by Nissan. Service managers should know their product and be well trained mechanics themselves.

I think most of this thread is a nice wish list, but I would remind you that Infiniti is not in the business of making the coolest cars or providing the best service, they're in it to make money. So if the ROI isn't there for a 4-door GTR, we'll never see it. And if they can get away with larceny at the stealership (which they do) they will continue that revenue stream.
I actually think they are doing some things right. Nudging the product line upward with the IPL series gives the higher-end customers some exclusivity and a dash of performance. Nudging it down with the G25 gives an 'in' to the entry-level customers and those who don't really care about performance, just comfort and looks. Judging from what I see on the street, that's the vast majority of buyers. We enthusiasts are a pretty small piece of the pie.
I'd also love to see lighter cars, better service and more high-performance options.
