My cam position sensor (bank 1) went up on my 04 6mt. The employees at my mechanics and said they'd order the part from the dealership (Sheehy Infiniti of Annapolis) - total - $200
And thats at my mechanic's rate - not the dealerships which is twice as much. For a sensor? I told them to hold off til after the holidays and did a little digging.
First of all, this sensor is used on mostly all nissan's from this decade, and Sheehy charges $130 at both Infiniti and Nissan dealers in Annapolis.
Autozone, Advanced, and pep boys all have aftermarket (duralast and BWD) for around 55 dollars, but i wanted to keep it OEM. The very first nissan dealership that I called (darcars nissan in college park) had the part for $80. Thats $50 less for the same part!!! I've found it online for about 65 plus shipping, but I need my car back so it was worth the 7-8 bucks I'd save to have it in my hand and put in today.
My mechanic popped it in for me at no charge and I escaped a $250 bill from the dealership.
I just can't believe how expensive Sheehy is, even compared to other dealerships. They wanted close to $400 for a extra set key and fob, and considering nissan parts vendors and the internet I wonder how the hell anyone takes their car there anymore in this economy. (110 for the blank key, 140 to program both, and 150 for the blank fob). You might as well just throw your car away and buy a new one anytime there's a problem with it.
I'm calling that CP nissan dealership to see if they'll cut me a new key. Just having one is asking for trouble especially if Sheehy is the only close Infiniti dealership. In fairness to them, their service is excellent - but not for %60 markup on a sensor.

Its the surrounding areas. When you in an expensive marked up place they know that people wont care about the extra fees/cost of parts. If that was a dealership in a less ritzy area such as college park which you found out they will make it cheaper to get the business because they know people wont just pony up the cash.
Yep, the G35 shares the same engine as a Nissan Maxima. The parts are mostly interchangeable. Infiniti wants $200 for plastic valve over. A slightly different valve cover going on the same engine is $40 on the Maxima, and so on.
