they are great cars! just sold my 91 that had 222k on it and still ran like a champ! the main things ive seen go wrong/need repair on the p11s are......starters, power steering hoses, motor mounts. everything else is maintenance like the fluids, belts, air filter, spark plugs, cap and rotor, wires.

I used to have a 96 G20 and the SR20 is cheap and easy to work on. the starter went out and I can guarantee that the motorized antenna's won't work.

the g20 are great cars , well balanced chasis and the great SR20DE engine .

On the stock block these cars handle boost great ! and when built even better.

If you ever need to replace the engine you can get a
SR20DE replacement $400-600
SR20DET Turbo motor from japan $900-1200
SR20VE all motor beast ,VVL high compresion engine revs to 8k $800-1000
SR16VE same as above just less displacment $800-1000

Problem is with the automatics the tranny tends to need repirs after 100k -120k
the 5 speed comes with factory LSD except for the 99
the G20s also came with the stronger trannys

The engine has a timing chain not a belt and these engines with when properly maintained can go well pass the 200k miles.

Parts are cheap and avaliable , 5 nissan cars of the same era share the same engine like the current days and the VQ35DE / VQ37DE-HR

check my threads i recently purchased one for my mom black on black G20 all stock 129k

^The G20 he is asking about is a year 2000, so it may come with the RR (Roller Rocker) engine if I remember correctly.

yeah my antenna mast was broken, never fixed it. and my trans held up fine...just needed a new shifter cable. if you lower it, you'll get the front end wobble from like 15-20mph during accel.

P11 are reliable and fun to drive but I wouldn't buy anything over 100k. They're easy to work on but at 150k who knows... and it's from a dealer.

i have owned three g20's and they are rock solid for reliability, and cheap to fix.

150K is not that high. i sold my 2002 with 190K miles for $3500 six months ago. for the car you speak of, i would not pay more than $3000 for it.

once you get up to 200K miles things like the front and rear main seal may start to leak, and the power steering line is always the first thing to leak on the car. Also the valve cover gasket may start to leak, but it's only $12 for a new one and cake to replace. Other then that, it's pretty reliable and you won't find another car on the road that can beat it with that many miles

i drove the **** out of my g20's as well, with track days and very aggressive driving when i felt like it. the only thing that ever broke at the track was my clutch when a spring popped out. This clutch had 150K miles on it though and seen well over 20 track sessions.

Great gas mileage too, averaged 29mpg city/highway.

i am actually looking to pick up another p11 5 speed for my daily driver and sell my p10 i drive now as my daily

My friend has a G20 154K on it and it still runs like a champ. If something does happen to go wrong (which isn't too often) it's usually pretty cheap to get taken care of.

False, not all jetta's are made in mexico. I know all the wagons and I think all the vr6 jetta's are from germany.

Glad to say I have one of the German made Jetta's!

Our friend's G20 has 154k and it is solid as hell. It is a 99 and we are driving it to Cali in May. Not one problem since he bought it with 118k.
