A little advise on an extended warranty
A little advise on an extended warranty
So I've been thinking about an extended warranty since my recent purchase of the G. I don't typically buy dealer extended warranties, but as I read more and more I am finding out their are many (minor and major) issues with the platform. So here is my dilemma..
I just picked up an 04 6MT that will run out of IEPP warranty in April. Since it is my second car, the mechanical aspect was the most important factor to me. The previous owner is very like minded and was meticulous with his car; even managed to get the motor replaced about 8k miles ago
. As of right now the door lock is acting up and so is my fuel gauge; both pretty common and covered uner warranty
So... I can spend $50 to get the last 4 months transferred into my name and have both these looked at (dealer is an hour away
) before April, or I can put that $50 towards a 24k 2 yr IEPP extension for $1350 and have it done soon after the IEPP purchase AND have more 2yrs of monitoring oil consumption, bad actuators, etc.
That is alot of money, 1300 dollars, but what else can potentially go wrong? Are there other major failures I should be aware of? Car has 63k miles with a new heart and stock everything else (besides suspension). Sooner or later when I give in I'll probably get a DD swap so there goes the 6-disc changer issue. I know IEPP is like insurance, but it seems these cars aren't exactly bulletproof.
Thanks for the input, I've seen a few threads about the extended warranty but never about anything after the purchase. I'm just pleasantly surprised that Infiniti still offers a warranty for something so old.
