Hey guys I've had my 07 coupe for about a week now. I just noticed the nasty noise it makes when I turn it off. It seems like it's coming from the engine. The noise is there even if I press the cluth in before turning it off. Should I be worried about it? It's a 6mt 07 g35 coupe. Made 12/06 if it helps. 60k miles. Thanks in advance.

Check your oil. Could be burning oil, your bearings could be bad, or something could be f'd up.

U sure it's not the exhaust? The exhaust rattles all the time when cooling down.

 

It's coming from the engine. It has no tags in front.

Press your clutch in while you shut the car of. See if that gets rid of the noise.

 

Car and Driver or Motor Trend had something on the VQ sounding like a tractor when turned off... maybe "A" typical characteristics of the motor? My dealership heard mine when I asked the service rep and he said that all the 6MT's with Rev up (07G35S) sound like that.

 

I have an 07 G35s Sedan and I get the same thing. What I read was that was flywheel chatter and like Infinite said its just how the car is. Just something a lil special about it...haha And it does sound like a tractor now you mention that.

 

What was he banned for?

 

Not the OP, but that sound is almost non existent when the clutch is held in when shutting the car off. Good thing to try.

Clutch chatter?

 

I posted a thread on a defective clutch system. I had a seized flywheel due to a spring failure... anyone else dealt with this? Initially I was told it was "typical" clutch chatter, but oh what they saw when they opened it up. Get your clutches inspected folks, there maybe a TSB coming out on this one. My dealership was shocked, but then again, I could have just been the "lucky one" and got a Friday car.
