Would you get better MPG's if you only fill your car up to the 1/4 mark?

yes, but the saving is most likely negligible.
I skip gears, and I stick to the speed limit (and it took me a loooooong time to develop this discipline) and I get the EPA 17-19 in town.
if i put my foot down for just one second my average drops down to 15. yea, your right foot is def the biggest factor

^ From what i hear, yes because the pump is working harder to suck from the bottom of the tank. Yes you would get better gas milage w/ only 1/4 tank but if you want to max it out for every little thing, when the light just turned red turn off your car. That is 45-60 seconds of gas waisted. But no one cares for that extra mile. It's just too small to see. Just fill the tank up all the way man.

Another gas mileage thread? lol seriously... gas is such a small expense in your annual expenses.
20k miles @ 15mpg @ $3.50/gallon = $4666
20k miles @ 20mpg @ $3.50/gallon = $3500
Drive the G like you enjoy the car. I'm not going to sissy foot my car to save maybe $1100/year.
And please... enough with the MPG threads! I hope that no one bought this car because they thought it got good gas mileage. I don't know why this topic is beat like a dead horse over and over and over. Gas is not a huge expense... there are other things you could save more money on. If gas is an issue then you probably bought the wrong car.

This may be a crazy way of thinking...but would you get better MPG's by say only filling up only to 1/4 due to weight?
A gallon of gas weight 6 lbs...So my tank is 16 gallons..if i only filled up to 6 gallons...i would be saving what 60 lbs..is that something that even would matter...i know weight matters in MPG's, HP ect...but is 60 lbs really anything?
Of course it would suck filling up everyday but i am just wondering if you did this for say 2 months..would you notice anything

I did go 460 miles and took 16.723 gallons between Smithfield, NC and Bordentown, NJ a couple of years ago. I no longer allow the fuel level to drop below 1/4 mark after discovering the fuel in the tank cools the fuel pump.
Allowing the fuel pump to overheat can shorten its life.

I must be doing it wrong then. I just divided the miles I got until the fuel light came on by the gallons I put in it last (takes 16-16.5 gallons right when the light comes on) and I just avgd 14.8mpg 
I do drive it fairly hard when I'm getting on freeways and like to occasionally do 80-90mph (WOT) fairly quickly. I drive it pretty easy on the streets tho. I'm starting to think something else can be causing the low mpg. All it has is the JWT pop charger and Z tube, the filter looks pretty clean. I'd say I driev half and half freeway and city. It just took 16.6 gallons and I reset the trip so I'll check again next week.

70-80 every time I'm on a highway. We've got pretty big open highways here, mostly all 4-5 lane each side. If you do 65 here everyone and their mother is passing you. 75 seems to be the norm. 2-3 times a day I go WOT to get on the highways and merge onto them doing 70ish. That is probably the cause of low mpgs.
