The problem with insurance covering it is that if you trade the car in, you'll get whacked for a bad Carfax report. Just happened to me last month when I traded my '08 Legacy GT for the G. They started at $1800 under what the middle of all the good condition trade-in figures were, and came off another grand when I said I'd have to leave and think about it. So an insurance paid $1700 repair cost me $800 six months later.

As much as I would love to have good resale/trade in value, theres not much i can do about it. I dont have the money to pay for repairs out of pocket and i sure as hell dont want to be driving around like until i do have the money. fml

Thanks everyone, for all your good wishes. I just made a claim to AAA and theyre trying to help me get my car fixed asap And would you consider guys my deductable low? its 500$

Heres some pictures i took earlier...
Looks like the deer impacted right where the headlight and fender meet.

NOTE deer guts at top of pic & part bumper cover ripped from body..

Notice how much the headlight sticks out of the body? The housing snapped completely in half

Dent i just found on passenger door note the inconsistent reflection of the sidewalk

More of the carnage

So how much do you guys think all this will cost? easily over 1.5k i think..

It's a tough situation when you get stuck like this when you weren't doing a thing wrong. I was trying to make sure you had information, not to persuade you not to use your insurance. Your damage looks to be a bit more than the $1700 done to my Subaru, which had bumper and headlight replacement and only slight damage/repair to the fender.

Deductible amounts are usually a trade-off for a lower premium. $500 is not uncommon for folks looking to minimize the premium. Mine's $250 for collision, but a deer hit like this goes under the $0 collision.

That sucks! I'd say easily $1500, but glad you're okay it could have been a lot worse, with how low our cars are we easily knock they're legs out and the mass of the deer's body comes right through the windhield......

Should have atleast went back n got the deer and processed the meat for either you or you coulda taken it to a shelter of some sort. Personally I woulda kept it for myself though! Insurence will cover that..or they do in Georgia anyhow. Good luck

Insurance will cover it. I destroyed the front end of our MINI a few months ago when a deer ran out in front of me. Got the car back in about 3 weeks.
Make sure you ask for OEM parts. Some places will quote you on aftermarket BS.

Good point. Aftermarket bumper covers can be particularly bad, a misfit just absolutely screams.

Learned about that when a place put one on one of my RX7s. You could see it wasn't right from 50 feet away, as you drove down the street to the body shop. I refused to sign for State Farm to pay until they put on OEM. They got nasty about it and I don't know what would have happened if State Farm hadn't been a party to it.
