will badge removal mess up paint?

I wanna remove the "Kelly" badge that came with the car. It is kinda peeling and looks like @$$. I've seen videos and I know one of my friends has done it. But since the car is 6 years old, will it leave a darker shadow where it was?

Most likely, really depends on how long the car has seen the sun.
If it was mostly garaged you might be ok.
Also depends on car color.

I've noticed that states outside of California have dealer badges on the paint, what's up with that? Why can't they just stick to the good ol' license plate frame?

I always make the dealer remove it (if they even have the chance to stick one on there - love buyinng my cars directly off the trailer when possible) and then check for damage prior to signing papers...

It will be fine. When you first take it off, you may notice the difference, but after a few days and exposure it will look exactly the same as all of the other paint. If you do a good job of removing the adhesive, that is.

they come off easy if you use a heat gun or even a blow dryer. then some Oops to remove the sticky stuff.... If its super noticeable after a week or so, look up a local detail shop and have them buff the entire trunk lid.

I would get the sticker off there if it were my car. I could deal with a slight fading where the sticker was before I could handle seeing the sticker there.

Cleaner wax, carnuba wax, then polish. After two rounds of that you wont see the ghosties.
