Clear coat polished plenum???

Hey I'm in the process of polishing my plenum. Im not a noob at polishing I did lots of work on my banshee. But doing my research here on driver I've heard many people polish their plenum and then clear coat it. This is news to me. I would figure that the heat would destroy they clear coat. Any ideas about it?

Most 2K clear lacquer's will be fine, however they can discolor, IE yellow or go a little milky after long periods of high heat, why not just give it the occasional polish to keep it looking bright.

But that's what you do when you polish it though isn't it haha?

Anyways.. on the clear coat.. I wouldn't bother.. just get some metal polish and clean it up everynow and then when you feel the need to. Doesn't take much time to do. Just did mine today and it took like 5 mins.

There's no reason to clear your plenum after it's polished, it should be fine as long as you hit it with Mothers a couple times a year....chrome?

Nope, IMHO chrome looks way better than polished

You have no idea G. It looks great and it matches my wheels. Also it never needs polishing, just a wipe down with a damp towel from time to time.

Been using Mothers for awhile and it seems to work pretty nicely, but I remember seeing Sean use that blue stuff. Totally forgot what it was called and too lazy to get up and go to the garage to check it out, but you can get it at any Pepboys or Kragen and etc

It's like a universal polish for metal, but idk didn't work out as nicely as I thought it would when I used it to clean up my chrome stuff in the engine bay today

That's the thing about the chrome plenum. The harness cover is very shiny and so is the throttle body (polished as well) but next to the chrome they lose some of their luster.
