Rockauto.com - Be careful
I'm posting here because I learn of Rockauto.com on this site.
I've placed several orders with them for all three of my cars with no problems until now.
My '97 Max needed brake pads all around and rotors up front. I've liked the Raybestos pads and Raybestos AT rotors that I got for the '05 Max. Well, they shipped the pads and one rotor from "location 1". They shipped on rotoe from "location 2". So far so good. Based on past experience with Rockauto.com I didn't open the boxes until I had the car apart. Bad move on my part. The parts from "location 1" were fine. Everything in the box was labeled and packaged by Raybestos. The rotor from "location 2" however was in an unmarked box. It did NOT match the rotor in the Raybestos box. The center wasn't blackend and it didn't have the drilled and tapped holes to use bolts to remove it after it got rusted on. I installed it because I needed the car on the road so I don't expect to return it. It fit alright but I ordered and paid for top of the line parts. That's not what I got.
I emailed rockauto.com but have not heard back as of yet.
So learn from my mistake. Open and inspect all packages as soon as you get them.

I paid with a CC. Like I said I had to use the rotor they sent to get the car on the road. The difference in price is probably not that much. The right part only cost $39.95+shipping. It's more the principal. I didn't get what I paid for. I'm not saying that they are dihonest. Probably some min. wage guy in the warehouse couldn't/didn't find the right part and figured it was better to ship something than nothing.
I'm home now and examining the rotor boxes. I now find the part # labels on both boxes. They have the same part #'s. One is marked Advanced Technology. This one has a date of 04/18/11 printed on it. This is the one I ordered.
The other box is marked Professional Grade Plus and dated 04/11/06. Now, Raybestos middle grade is called "Professional Grade". It could be that PG+ used to be their top of the line, hence the same part #
I probably won't find out until Monday if Rockauto will do anything for me.
