New G driver

Well, I've been trolling the board for a couple weeks and decided it looks like a pretty good board. Anyhow, I built and raced mustangs for about 16 yrs, did a few year stint with Subarus and now here I am. So, I've gone from 500+hp daily driven race cars to 300+awhp DD WRXs to my slooooo G. Its an 04 6MT coupe. I like it, it just needs more power. I've already put some wheels and a borla catback on it, but in the future, I see myself fabbing up a turbo kit for it.... I look forward to learning about this body and maybe sharing knowledge.

Post pics of new vehicle and previous vehicle. Welcome on board and looking forward to your turbo fabrications. Too many turbo kits that are overpriced and underperformed. Would be nice to see budget builds that actually give you a BANG FOR BUCK.

Will do eventually. I've been on numerous boards and never quite got the whole pic posting thing. Sad, I know. Not much of a computer geek type. (no offense to geeks, its more of a compliment anyhow. Just like I know I am a gearhead/grease monkey. Lol) Sadly, it may be a few months before I start my turbo build. I have to research then start hoarding parts. Probably looking toward the GT35r. But, thanks for the welcomes guys!!! And I will open a photo account and finally try to get this pic posting thing figured out.

If you really want to do this build right, research rebuilding the VQ motor with a stroker kit to 4.2 then add your turbos. Might easily surpass what you had with all those Mustangs....

Welcome!

Sounds like you've had some interesting cars, I'd also like to see some pics if you get them going.

And thumbs up for a good intro that doesn't come across as an arrogant 15 year old posting, you will go far on this board.

thanks. lol.. I dont foresee me asking about how to perform a burnout with my 6mt... LOL!!!! I am just a 35y/o performance enthusiast. I got my start very young (about 5 y/o) My parents were the track paramedics for Orlando Speedworld way back in the day. On track nights my folks would get other family in and I can remember standing along the fence watching the cars launch off the line.... great times... My first car was a retired drag car, I was 16 and driving a 66 mustang that was minitubbed. It didnt have the motor it had in its hay day but the little 289/borg warner 3 spd worked pretty well. I had to drop the motor/trans in it if I wanted to drive it. Then from there I built an awesome '74 260z, probably one of my all time favorite cars I've owned. Then back to mustangs for many years, then to jeeps, WRXs, and now back to Nissan. I like to keep my horizon broadened and not just have tunnel vision on one brand. I enjoy building cars that make good power and still retain all the creature comforts, ie, A/C, stereo, power seats....

I do like drag racing but I love road racing. (not street racing, however, a little red light to red light showdown does happen from time to time but never in traffic) Theres a time and place for everything.

Gary, I will look into the stroker build but I think it may be kinda hard to pull 5-600whp out of this little motor and keep it streetable... lol.

I know this is kinda long winded banter but I could sit and talk cars all day long....

*******!!!!!!! lol.

Thanks, blast that BOSE....Lol. I can say the BOSE thats in the G does sound alot better than the bose in my H2. Besides the only 'stereo' I really enjoy is the sound of the Borla cat-back I put on a few days ago. I do wish it was louder though, I figure once I throw some headers and test pipes on it, it should give me some more sound. Then when the the time comes, I can just flip the headers add a crosstube and start mocking up for the turbo. YAY!!!!

Thanks for hosting Faiz23.
Selyor, I have long since sold it due to troubled times when I was about 19-20 years old. I was young, married and had a kid and we fell on hard times and sadly I sold that car for the price of one of the weber carbs.... I forever kick myself in the *** for that one. The main thing to look for on those is frame rail corrosion especially under where the battery sits. Those older batteries leaked and would rot out the chassis. Other than that, i think those cars were way ahead of their time. And if Nissan would produce and market something like them again, they would do amazing. Take the 240sx, amazing car, poorly marketed. The Miata, decent car, marketed very well and its sales figures are great. I know I am comparing apples to pears but still, small, 4cyl, rwd, performance minded car.
