In the real world it doesn't matter what oil/filter you use if you change it frequently or when Nissan recommends at 3500 miles.

When Mobile 1 initially introduced to market the mileage rating stamped on can/bottle was 25K, because of manufactures warranty conflicts they changed guidelines to follow OEM recommendations.

Amsoil sells a filtration sytem to allow up to 100K without changing oil. If using a high quality synthetic the only reason to change oil other than overheating is oil contamination from blow-by or N2O use.

My last oil change with royal purple i went 6K and had a used oil analysis done. My engine, over the 6K, had no wear at all outside of normal. That enough proof for me to always use it. (price justified)

Ha! 25k, 100k? Good luck with that!

And normal wear according to traces in the used oil is great but you gotta pay the extra few bucks to get the oil factor that tells how much it's still protecting.

Yea, I didn't that one but I had the one I did 4500 miles on. Oil still had enough stuff to be protective and they recommended me 6000 miles. So I did and wear was fine, this next one coming soon I'm going to see if I can push it any farther (even if I can 6K is a lot)

Honda recommends conventional oil changes at 7,500.

So Synthetic oil running 6k miles isn't very impressive.

It really depends on the engine. Running the same oil in other engines I can get nearly 10k but the G is done with it by 6k or so. I wonder how much it has to do with the fact that the other cars have low temperature thermostats and the G is stock.

I agree with that. Changing oil @ 3K miles or 6K with synthetic is a waste of time & money.

Real focus should be on using synthetic oils. Avoid conventional oils unless its high mileage oil (contains zinc). Regular conventional oil is contributing to excesssive valve train and cam wear in older vehicles.

If I was Honda that's what I'd recommend, look at all the short blocks I'd sell. I don't put a lot of mile on SLICK but she gets new AMSOIL/filter three time a year.

Kuneff I'm assuming you mean RP throughout not just in the engine for the tranny shifting. Just changing tranny fluid will shift smooth anyway.

As long as you change it you can run wally world brand unless you are racing on a road course it doesn't matter and in that case you better not touch what's on the shelf anyway.
Most motorcycles the oil runs through the engine and transmission. My GSXR is like that. So whatever oil you put in the engine also lubricates the wet clutches and transmission. With Royal Purple I have noticed that the clutch engagement and disengagement is extremely smooth with no slipping or hanging up. Seems to have made the shifts smoother as well, but for sure on 1st to 2nd.

Depending on how much street riding I do compared to track is how I judge my oil changes. The more track time I get in the more often I change my oil.

I had been a die hard believer in Mobil 1 in my bikes until I tried the Royal Purple.

I am not sure if I will push it to the full 7,500 miles on my new Civic, but it might be close. I have free oil changes for life at the dealership. Using Honda oil. Its got a 100k mile warranty, and I can't imagine Honda would offer that if 7,500 mile oil changes could be damaging to the engine. Honda builds a superior engine in my opinion when it comes to stock OEM form and reliability. Hell even my lawn mower is a Honda. Mobil1 oil changes each fall and 1 spark plug change in 8 years.

If I remember right my G said in the manual that if your driving mainly highway (which I was) to change the oil every 6,250 miels. I changed mine with Mobil 1 every 5k. No issues, traded her off at 105k miles and still not using any oil...

Oh okay, after thinking about it I figured that was the case. I know nothing about bikes! And it seems there are lots of differences with cars.

I think Mobil 1 is still the best for the money on a street car, unless you can double oil change intervals then the time saved would be worth extra cost. But for racing Redline is the way to go and still cheaper than RP!

Never Tried Redline. To be honest, the only reason I tried Royal Purple is because I wanted to change the oil that morning and the store was out of Mobil1 but had the royal purple...

I am glad I tried it and switched the other bike over as well now.
