Thats your hood switch for your anti-theft system. Why do you want to remove it?

Why would you want to remove it to begin with? Are you doing some major engine work?

I thought thats what it was just wanted to verify. I think it's malfunctioning and setting off my car alarm at random times. Like 3AM and pissing off my neighbors. I've disconnected it and it hasn't gone off since.

Unless you're having an aftermarket alarm installed I'd leave it alone, if it's broken replace it!

Um, the battery is under the hood too. So if it's disconnected and the hood is opened with no alarm sounding, what's to stop a thief from disconnecting the battery so they can steal the rest of the car?
