key pad not working after ecu reset - wtf?
so last nite i reset my ecu using the pedal method and i started the car afterwards to see if the ses light went off and it did. this morning i got up a little early to wash my car before work. i backed my car outta the garage and into the driveway and gave the car a good wash and dry. afterwards i went to pull it back into the garage to shine the tires and get it outta the sun. when i got in the car to start it, it wouldn't start immediately. it acted like it wanted to start but it just kept making the sound and wouldn't fire up. finally it started and i let it idle a few mins and everything was fine. i noticed i had to use the key to start the car. i had the key pad in my pocket and all. also, the key wouldn't turn all the way to start the car. like it had trouble turning in the ignition. i can't remember if i had to use the key to back the car outta the driveway or not honestly. now that i'm thinking about it i'm thinking maybe while washing i may have got something wet that wasn't suppose to. i didn't open the hood or wash the engine. just the exterior of the car. is there anyway to reset the key pad or did the battery just die you think or what? i may try getting a new battery on the way to work. hoping the guy at autozone knows how to replace it. i'm pretty sure they carry the battery for it. anyway, if anyone can shed some light on the situation i'd appreciate it. thank you.

I'm assuming you have the intelligent key? More than likely the battery's going out, but that wouldn't explain the ignition being hard to turn. The battery's simple to replace, just pull the key out of the fob and pop the cover open. You'll need a CR 2025 which you can pick up just about anywhere.

I keep looking to see how to pop the thing open. I don't wanna break it if it isn't already broken. If it is broken can I just get another one and program it myself or is this something the dealership would have to do?

little update. tonite i replaced the battery and it still did nothing. i searched on here trying to figure out how to reprogram it but, it seems you can't reprogram the intelligent keyfob yourself. you've gotta have the dealer do it. i'm pretty sure my keyfob was ruined. it fell outta my pocket between the seat and console and i moved the seat forward to get it and still couldn't get it so i reversed the seat all the way back and it must have gotten crushed. i noticed there was a dent in the keyfob and this must have damaged it. when i took it apart it looked ok but, i could tell when it was being squeezed by the seat the pressure was pretty intense because it bent some of the internals. the actual dent is so small but obviously it was enough to ruin it.
i'm going to find an i-key online and get the dealer to reprogram it. may order 2. i'm wondering if my key will insert into the other keyfobs. i know each keyfob cant be specific to each key it holds physically inside. i just want to be able to store the key inside the keypad again while it's in my pocket.
