Has anyone negotiated a total loss claim?

hi all! my g35 got totaled in a car accident. they have offered me a cash value of approximately $15,000 for my 2003 G35 coupe.

i was wondering if anyone has negotiated with a total loss adjuster before? i'm trying to research and i understand i don't have to accept that first offer. i can request for reports and comps to see how they can up with the number, and even request for an independent appraiser, it seems?

i was wondering if anyone has gone through this can give me any advice or tell me your experience with the negotiations?

i don't think they factored in my premium package with the bose system etc. so i'm planning to fax them some documentation. is there anything else that i might be missing? i haven't done any other mods. also, want to add that i am planning to accept the offer eventually. just wondering how i can get the best offer.

any advice is appreciated. thank you.

You can fight it if you like. My friend did this to his car and it has a bad title now. If you go that route, it will take a very long time.

take the money! Unless you've got a huge amount of money in mods, then I'd say that's a good deal. you could go pick up another one for less

$15K for an '03 is a rediculous deal. Take the money and run. Don't get greedy.

I'm an adjuster for a large Canadian provider and I have to settle claims from time to time. I know that all insurers and adjusters usually get a bad rap from people thinking we are ripping them off; but the truth is that more often than not, what we give you for your car is more than what you would get on the open market. Keep in mind that the prices you see at dealerships and on Autotrader are the asking prices... on average a good negociator can usually get an additional 10-15% off.

Agreed with everybody else here. Unless your car has sub 50k miles, which is highly unlikely, you are getting away with highway robbery. Take the money and run.
