How Often do you.....

change your oil?

Just want to know what you guys do and would this effect anything. For me i been changing mine out every 5k and it's easier to remember that way. My car still runs awesome. I know my parents on the corolla and the Buick they change it out every 10k. What is the reason why you choose to change at that interval?

News feed.

I change mine every 5K too, both previous owners did the same and I'm thinking that's one of the reasons why it's lasted through so many km's

Is it true that synthetic you can go longer like 8k more then regular oil?

On a well maintained engine, probably. Engines and oils have improved over the years so longer intervals can be taken. Personally, I don't even like my oil changing color so paying a little extra for shorter intervals doesn't bother me.

Every 6 months.. I don't drive it a lot.. So I change the oil with full synthetic every 6 months. The last 2 years i have only driven 9,000 miles. Otherwise I would go every 3,000 miles.. Oil changes are cheap. All my cars I have ever owned never go over 3,000 miles or 3 months.. But now that I barely drive it, I go six months.

3k miles is too soon. At 3k for me the oil still looks relatively new. If I changed it at that interval Id be changing oil almost once a month which is kinda annoying.

I do mine at 5k. But recently I pushed it to 5.5k since I been busy. IMO 5k is perfect since thats when my oil JUST goes bad and turns all black.

Every 5k miles. The only reason I changed from 3k to 5k is because so many people posted 5k in another oil changing thread I read on here. Before that thread I'd panic if I had not changed my oil as soon as it hit 3k.
