Infiniti, what happened to them?

This is the end of the road for me with Infiniti. I used to swear they made the best cars in the world, and I would recommend them over any competitor brand....

I have an 05 coupe a/t, which I have maintained myself fully since I
puchased it back in 05 with less than 10 miles on tbe dash. I have done all maintenance required and beyond. Drain and refill tranny every 15k, change oil religiously @ 3-4k miles and freak out if I ever passed the 4K mark, always full synthetic mobil1 or RP. Changed PCV valve every 2 years, changed sparks at 30K with quality ngk laser oem series... You name it, I have done it most likely, all to find my car at 55K miles is burning 1 quart of oil every 400-500 miles. I dont have the HR engine, to which I scratched never having to worry about OC issues, but yet I am burning it like water.

I also purchased an 08 EX for my wife, under 20K miles. Long story short, Infiniti had to replace the transmission on it because it would slip under acceleration. I also have to return now due to a steering assembly issue, basicaly its completely loose.

Excuse typos, wrote this from iPad b4 breakfast

I have had many other vehicles, Eclipses, civics, camry, to name a few, and I have never had so many issues with a car brand. I am highly dissapointed with Infiniti, and I am simply venting a bit because I thought I would share my experience, from a hardcore Infiniti follower. Anyway, chime in if you have any complaints, or share a similar story.

Not all cars are made to be perfect. It may just be the luck of the draw for some. In your case, you had 2. My family had a G20 for 15 years w/ 150k miles and the only major problems we've had was an annoying little oil leak that could never get fixed. Other than that, the car ran strong until it was totaled. That's when I got my G w/90k and so far no problems.

Although I understand with the price and expectations of Infiniti cars, you probably shouldn't have had all those problems with the cars. But in my books, Infiniti is still close to the top of the list.

i've owned honda, volkswagon, toyota, chevy, lexus and infiniti.

i've had issues with every brand..

and it's usually the "REV-UP" motors that have the OC issue.. Not the HR..

doesn't matter cuz ur burning oil anyway.. sorry to hear.. too bad u didn't catch it while u were still on powertrain warranty.. 6yr 70k miles...

Had a front axle leak on mine and some interior trim replacements done as well on warranty. Other than than it runs great. Every car I have ever owned has had issues. Except my 04 grand am. Brand new purchase and had it for 50k. Never 1 issue.

My dealership uses Quaker State conventional oil. 5w-30. Since thats what they used from the start, thats what Ive been using. No problems at all. I wont argue that Mobil is certainly better quality but sometimes its better to use what the car came with at first.

But then again I have a 03 sedan, not the rev up. However I have a friend that has an 04 coupe and it burns oil...

True, but switching since the first oil change to M1 5w-30 (used RP when available) should provide the best for the car, but I get a car that burns oil like a 2 cycle jet ski lol

Sorry you have had a bad experience with Infiniti. I am also a firm believer of cars being either good or bad. Regardless of its make, model, year etc.
