Totaled G=another G?
Totaled G=another G?
Hey guys some of you might of seen that i totaled my 2004 DG g35x sedan a week or 2 ago. Im currently car shopping and found a pretty rare car.
I knew that if i bought another G35 that it would not be AWD because those front axles just get in the way for me to go lowwww :] So i found a 2004 DG 6MT with about 89k miles on it for 14k OUT THE DOOR, including taxes, fees and plate transfers. I already test drove it twice, everything feels good and I'm going again today with a local friend who has a 2004 6MT sedan just so i can get another opinion n the tranny/clutch/engine since I am not familiar with manual transmissions.
The car fax is clean, says nothing bad ever happened to it but one thing that scares me in the hood is not lined up correctly as well as the trunk. I'm not sure if this indicates that the car was in an accident and the owner decided to fix the car himself or if maybe some bolts holding the hinges down came loose or the hinges bent somehow. It can be anything but that it really the only thing i see wrong with it.
Here is a link to the car, let me know what you guys think:

See if you can borrow a paint meter, and test all the panels.
As a guideline, I picked up a super clean '06 6mt sedan with 48k miles for 14k excluding tax and registration back in November.
Good luck.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

I would highly recommend having a competent mechanic look it over, and definitely negotiate the price, $14k is too high.
I would pass on any used car where the panels didn't line up! That's a major red flag this car has been bounced around more than once....keep looking, maybe something with less miles and perfect shape.

My suggestion might be that you pay that price but on the condition that "inconsistency" is ironed out.
Let's look at possible causes for the alignment being off:
1) Mods done by previous owner and re-installed improperly
2) In an accident of some sort and fixed under-the-table off car fax
3) The hood and trunk are the only two peices actually aligned properly and it's the entire car that is knocked out of alignment.
Personally- it kind of sounds to me like someone put a CF or otherwise modded hood / trunk on and in going back to OEM didn't get things lined up properly. Guys who are driving 6MTs generally know what they have and from the community here I see guys are generally a bit more enthusiastic than the older, non-chalant types who typically drive the 5MT Sedans (sorry Swivel).
I'm a bit of a tire kicker myself but even still I'd probably want someone I trusted who knew cars to give it a once over to check some common wear and tear items. The car maintenance log might be a good find if it's there- to see if periodic maintenance was performed or if new fluids were just dumped in there pre-sale for the first time in 89k miles.

I agree with the others, don't rush into a problem car. Must be LOTS of G's for sale everywhere.
