New Infiniti Owner

I just recently purchased a 2005 infiniti g35 sedan with a 6MT Rev-Up, Nearly mint condition, one owner and, 58,000 miles, 18" premium wheels, front and rear side airbags, paid $14000.00 for it. Just wanted some insight on what common problems these vehicles start to get around this mileage and what should be some of the first things I do to it?

Thank you for your time and be kind as I am a noob to the world of infiniti. I have owned other vehicles in the past (mostly 2nd and third gen rx-7's). Any insight would be appreciated. I have already been digging through the forums FAQ section. Thanks again

compression rods

Question? Is there specific compression rods that are better than others? I know this is a common problem, but I have not noticed anything wrong with mine yet. Also my vehicle is still covered under a bumper-bumper warranty until august of this year.

As Far as pictures are concerned I am in the process of getting some put on here. Thank you for your information and assistance.

My 06' 6mt coupe has had these issues covered under warranty:

oil consumtion (short block replaced)
Axle click (regreased)
Clutch clicking (new clutch pedal)
Clutch sticking (new slave cylinder)
Temperature fuel gauge sensor (replaced)

Now the axle click and clutch sticking/clicking is easy to diagnose.
Just listen for the clicking.
The oil consumtion issue can usually be diagnosed by checking your oil every 1000 miles.
Sometimes the easiest thing to do and since your under a time constraint is to take it into the dealership and tell them it looks like your car is consuming oil. Even if it's not.
They'll do an oil change and tell you to come back in after 1000 miles.
They can then tell you if it is eating up oil prematurely.

Here's the tsb for the OC issue. It's a link 1/2 way down the thread.

Good or Bad?

Previous owner never had any issues with oil consumption. The vehicle has had over 1,000 miles since I have received it and guess what... no oil consumption. This is either really good or really bad. Does oil consumption usually happen after x amount miles or is it something that usually hits the car early?

I am absolutely loving this car so far and thank you everyone for being so kind on this forum. I absolutely love that this forum is not full of post bullies like so many I have been a part of in the past.

One more question what is a good replacement for the compression rods? I have heard the factory ones are POS and am curious what the good aftermarket options are.

I've put about 1,000 miles on my new-to-me 2005 6MT sedan and I haven't seen any drop on the dipstick either. A little over 68,000 on mine. Congrats on the purchase.

Congratulations on the G but how do you go from a RX-7 to a big a.. sedan? Well you don't have OC issues, that's very good news! In 2K miles you're going to need the 60K mile service which includes replacing all fluids and the cabin filter along with checking belts. There's no reason to have Infiniti do this service, any quality shop can do this service for you. Good Luck....Gary

How do you know if you still have warranty? or did it come from where you bought it? I have an 05' i just bought a month ago with only 34,000 miles on it and it does have a little click in the rear when clutch is released at low RPM and low speed (unless i dont hear it at higher RPMs and speeds cuz of road and engine noise) so kinda wanted to get it checked.

The person I bought my vehicle from had an extended warranty. He gave me all the paperwork and all I had to do was pay a 50 fee to transfer the warranty to me. Just FYI my person told me he had a problem with the clicking in his vehicle around 35,000 miles and had it fixed under warranty. Best of Luck.
