Thinking of getting a shift kit
I was thinking of getting a transgo shift kit for my 04 coupe 5at but I wanted to ask since my G is at 100k+ miles will it hurt my engine or will it be ok and yes I know Manuel is better but hey I had to work with what I could get lol so if anybody could help me out it would be cool

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

Shift kit won't affect your engine and will actually help your tranny. It will reduce the heat your tranny produces by making it shift more efficiently. I say go for it, I've never heard anyone on this forum complain about one. They all rave about how awesome it is.

^ +1. I have the Transgo myself, it's one of the best mods you can do to our AT's. Just make sure a qualified shop/person installs it, otherwise you could end up buying a new valve body, and they're not cheap.
Also, there's nothing wrong with the 5AT, no need to defend your decision.

Transgo FTW... BEST mod I did for the car to bring it all together in my pre- FI days. When you're puttering around it shifts nice and smooth- but when you hammer on it... it hammers back!
But as you start driving in a more spirited fashion- which you will undoubtedly do once you have this mod- you do need to be more concerned with cooling. Many will tell you our ATF cooling setup isn't ideal and does not disperse heat very efficiently... I'm not a car guy but basically the way the cooling is routed is extremely inefficient. Heat kills- so my advice, and advice that I was given originally which I held dear, was to get an upgraded ATF cooler. Doesn't need to be massive or anything- I don't remember how big my original one was exactly so I'm sorry I can't be more help... and I'm at work for the week so can't just go outside and look.
Anyway, budget for it... I think it added about 300 bucks total to my cost, including purchase and installation.
