How to get that v8 growl?
I have been getting the itch for a v8 lately. I would like to get an m45, gs460 or 550i eventually but in the mean time what can I do to make my G growl like a v8? I have a coupe midpipe so I'm thinking about an intake of some sort?

LOL... nice. Unless you're serious- in which case the sound of people blowing you off may satisfy you?
And HFC / TPs will add a level of rasp to your NA setup OP. I found my sound was best with a 5/16ths plenum spacer and the stillen airbox and K/N filter / Z tube- with everything else being stock. If sound is what you're shooting for, that's the most affordable way to do it- especially if you buy all said components in the marketplace.
Once I went Stillen exhaust with HFC- it wasn't bad at WOT but during most low level acceleration it was pretty raspy. Wasn't a fan of that. TPs would have been much worse.
BERK ceramic coated HFC apparently dull out the rasp so if I were going that route I would probably do that. In fact, until I went FI that WAS the route I was planning.

Unless you transplant a V8 in your ride there's nothing you can do to make it sound like one! Headers, ART pipes and the perfect dual exhaust with or without mufflers she's still going to sound like a VQ....
