Hey all,

As you can see in the below photo, the perforated leather liners (I guess?) have been peeling off in my back seat. This one is the driver's side, which came completely off. The passenger side is very mild. I've been using super glue around the edges of the back of the fabric to stick it back on, but it's not working as well as I'd hoped. Any ideas for some better glue for this? I have some 3M adhesive, but it could get messier than I want. T.I.A.!

 

Go to your neighborhood upolstory shop and have them fix it for you since they carry the right glue for fabric....Gary

Local Kizuna Kustomz recommends 3M Super 90 spray adhesive, as I have that exact same issue.

 

I've used this stuff to glue fabric onto panels in my Lotus, it comes in a spray can which makes it easier: http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...t-Information/

Before you use it, dab a little bit in a hidden area to see if it doesn't eat the plastic, but it shouldn't.

 

I'm more of a DIYer so I've been looking for a matching solution.

Maybe I'll just give the 3M adhesive a shot since I already have it.

 

I also have this problem starting to happen on my passenger side front. I just want to smear some adhesive on the end and put it back. A spray i think would be too messy. Any other ideas? I have used super glue and yes, it doesn't hold up very well. Ideally, I'd like something i can smear on with a cotton swap or similar.

 

Super glue won't work since it dries brittle, and will just crack off, you want the glue to be flexible when dry. Contact glue might work (assuming you find one which doesn't melt plastic), or spray some of that 3M stuff into a plastic cup and swab it from there.

The spray is good for gluing whole pieces of trim, less good for just touching up.

Not to threadjack, but that looks sweet. Did you do that yourself or have an upholstery shop do it?

 

Yeah, I've thought about removing them all together. It doesn't look terible without them. Or maybe do a wrap on them instead. That looks pretty clean though.

there are a few types of 3m fabric spray glue.
get the strongest bottle spray.

 

I did everything myself except the arm rest since it had to be stitched.... The panels were a PITA though since they're not inserts and do not come off. I had to dremel them off from the back, wrap everything and use machine screws to mount them back on. Not a ridiculously hard project just took me a while to come up with a plan to do it
