Definetly going to be a total. Whether a car is considered totaled or not depends on what percentage the repair is to the total value of the car....and it's a low percentage usually (like 20%). That's easily $7k in damage if repaired at a legit shop....so unless your insurance company values your car at like $25k, you can pretty much assume you're going to be getting a new car.

i just had a body shop come by my apartment and without putting it up they estimated $5500. Seems a little low to me...?

Hmmm did they check for any kind of frame damage..? I know some insurance companies only try to give you a little bit of money...if I were you I would have an actual body shop give you and estimate and they will legitimately check everything...don't ok the insurance until you are happy

Even if it does get fixed, it won't feel the same. Hope they total it & start over. Glad to see no one got hurt.

Yeah but once the body shop starts fixing the car and finds more damage the insurance company has to pay for the damage..

Sadly we've seen insurance companys total cars with that kinda damage even with low mileage. Hope you recover enough $$ to find a replacement....Gary
