Hi Everyone,

My name is Jason and I am new to this forum. I've been lurking around here and other car forums for a little bit and plan on getting myself a new car within this week. I went through a lot of different research and opinions and finally came down to either a 350z or the g35. I posted on the 350z forum and people gave me good advice on each vehicle, but today I started looking into ads on craigslist,yahoo,keepthepricereal and other classified ad pages for g35. After searching more, I feel that I like the g35 more and more every minute over the 350z, but I still have my doubts. I found one that I like, has manual transmission, looks great and the price is acceptable.

Is this worth buying? Any precautions? Is the price too high?

They're nice cars but the quality is definitely not as good as BMW, Lexus etc. If you're not extremely fussy, I say get one because they are great machines. They're fast, make good sounds from both ends, are super reliable and still have a little bit of a snob factor. The only thing about Infiniti is that the brakes wear out fast (around 20k give or take) and the mileage is bad...I never get more than 20mpg.

 

Wow, never over 20mpg? I dont really mind the brakes part though. Anyways, thanks for the advice! What about the g35 that I posted above? You think that one's worthit for the price?

 

Mileage really depends on weather as well. In the winter, my car is always cold since most of my trips are less than 20 minutes. If I do a lot of winter driving in rural/city setting then I get 17mpg. In the summer I get 19-21mpg. A cold car gets terrible mileage so you have to look at what type of driving you do and how the weather is.

The car you posted seems overpriced. The car's probably 9 years old and $15,000 is a lot of money. I bought a 2005 g35x last year with 96k for $11,000. It was really dirty but it cleaned up really well. I would say not to spend anymore than $12,000 on that particular car but make sure there haven't been any accidents. If it hasn't been serviced then it will be due for a coolant change, differential fluid service, transmission flush and the power steering fluid will need to be changed.

 

both the g and z are good. the only difference is if you think youre going to need the backseats on the g35.

 

for the gas mpg comment..i average 24-25mpg with spirited driving so i dont know whats wrong with that car...

as far as price, eh..its an ok price but not great on that car listed

 

I picked up an 04 g35 sedan 6mt with 38k miles on it for 13,700 so you can find better. Also gas mileage I avg 22mpg. They are good cars. Just read up on models with oil consumption issues and stay away from those

 

if u want a used car where u can fix if needed without breaking the bank g all the way.

 

Z: Better performance
G: Roomier interior, more luxury

 

Why does everyone with a sedan tell him they got their car cheaper....no doubt sedans are cheaper that is a good package brembo brakes, black interior, 6mt not bad mileage on it. Look at a few more you can likely get them cheaper but that one does seem to have a lot going for it.

Z vs G G all day long unless you are building a track car. Gs are roomier the back seats are handy and the Gs styling in my option blows the Z out of the water.

Automatic, grey interior, no areo package and no Brembos

 

The performance difference between the 350z and g35 coupe is basically negligible unless you are a pro racer or plan on modifying the car into a track car.

 

Don't forget the difference in insurance for 2-seat coupe vs. 5-seat coupe vs 4-door sedan.

The G35, sedan in particular, will insure for less. In fact, when I was looking it up, it insured for less than the Altima or the Maxima due to the added safety features - ABS, stability control and side airbags that are all standard.
