I'll do the diff change the same time I do the trans since its easy. I jus noticed for the 1st gen g35 there is no premium service jus schedule 1 or 2 n neither mention replace jus inspect. So technically no where does Infiniti apply premium service or changing fluids every 30k for the first gen.

My Haynes manual says every 15,000 mi to check the MTF & Diff fluid levels, then every 60,000 mi to change the MTF & Diff fluids.

That seems reasonable, and like a couple of my other cars. Thank you, how is the Haynes manual, is it worth it?

i wonder why the first gen g35 theres no mention of changing the fluid from nissan officially. many owners dont go further than the owners manual for maintenance schedules. jus doesnt make sense unless the fluid they put in from the factory is super fluid.

Anyone use the synthetic gear OEM diff fluid?. Its 75w-140. It's on mynismo.com. manual calls for 80w-90 tho. Can I use the syn one? Also tech tried to give me manual fluid n said it was the same but the manual says its different. I can use manual fluid? I refused to buy it.

went to nissan today to get diff fluid and they only have penzoil 80w-90 and thats wat nissan gives them to sell. he said theres no oem one. this true? so maybe there is some truth in the factory fluid being special

I'm a technician at an Infiniti dealer. I currently have 2 bottles of Nissan branded MTF (75W-90) on my bench right now and that is exactly what comes in the manual transmissions when they arrive in the cars. What we typically put in though is Mobil 1 75W-90 for the differentials. I'm in New England so we rarely see any cars with a manual transmission unfortunately, mostly all-wheel drive G's. So I'll be 100% honest and I don't know what we would be putting in the transmission, likely the Mobil 1 though. For the diff's and t-case it's as inspected but typically we usually recommend it every 60K if it has not been done yet (preventative maintenance), this is also the schedule I follow on my own G35.

I have never used it but I wouldn't put it in the diff

Differential Gear oil | 3PT | API GL-5, Viscosity SAE 80 W-90
So I would stick with that or the more readily avalible 75W-90

EDIT on my earlier post, the OEM MTF is 75W-85. I assumed 90 and I wasn;t at work at the time. For those interested the part number for the OEM MTF is 999MP-MTF00P

seems like 80w-90 gear oil is not too common. i picked up some valvoline syntec blend. hope that works good. its was between that or castrol brand. i normally would go with castrol but wanted to try the syntec blend since i dont plan on changing it again for another 60k.

ps i dont understand why redline would say they make a specific gear oil for the 350z but its not even the same oem vicosity

I changed my diff fluid after only 2 years and 15,000 mi. It was a brown color compared to the amber color its supposed to be. 60,000 mi. interval changes should suit most- but us that track the car at constant redline know better than to run burnt fluid..

I honestly don't believe the color of the fluid is a clear indicator of the condition of the oil
