06 5AT shift boot plastic ring...

ok soo i installed the new shift **** i bought..well half way installed.. i searched around but most threads i came across were for 6mt.. mine is a 06 5AT and that square plastic ring on the shift boot is getting in the way.. it wont let me push it down all the way and it scrunches up the boot.. is there a way to remove that plastic square ring? thinking i might have to shorten the boot a lil bit idk... i might just have to buy a new boot maybe...idk any input would be awesome.. thanks

Consider you get what you pay for, any time you make a change/mod to your G make sure it's worthy and an upgrade! There's only a couple quality shift ***** for your 5AT that work well. What I'm using is a KJ Burnt Titanium **** sold by SXEXCX (Sean) on our MARKETPLACE, you can get the Niftyshifty boot from him also. Post pic of the issues you're having, answers will come easier....Gary

well b4 i was able to take the pix i figured it out and got that lil plastic ring off of the boot.. but i still feel the 3 screw pinch bolts that screw the **** to the shifter will come lose eventually..maybe i just need to go but better pinch bolt screws..or mark where those pinch bolts hit on the shifter and tap some holes soo it really bolts to it.. i want to take off that lil blue plastic extension piece but the boot bunches up and it doesnt want to go into park without a lil shove....

Go to your local auto parts store buy yourself Loctite blue, apply a little to those bolts that continue to come loose. Get the **** where you want it and tighten, shouldn't ever come loose again....Gary

You can cut down that plastic piece (actuator) in the center 1/2" to lower your ****, don't remove it cause you'll lose the reverse lockout and full park....Gary
