Old post, but recently figured it out. There's a metal ring that holds the leather into the chrome shift ring. Just pry it out and work your way around to free the leather.

Turn the boot inside out and you'll see a little snap ring. Just remove the snap ring and then you can remove the squart shift boot trim peice.


I had to do this to swap over to an M45 trim ring when i did my M45 **** install

 

Got it. I've had my new **** sitting in my glove for years.
