well, if you see the name of the town I live in, you can pretty much guess it....my G got totaled in the hurricane. In fact, not only my G, but my house, and 80% of my belongings/collectibles are gone.

I parked my G in the garage to keep it safe from the hurricane...joke was on me. 5 feet of water in my garage, basement and on my whole block. No seriously, there was 5 feet for as far as you can see up the block.

so it was a 2005 MT (sports edition) slate color with 66K miles. It was my baby. As soon as I got it, i found the detailedimage website and spent about $1K on detailing products. I loved that car and took such great care of it...never abused it. As it turns out, my car did have the oil consumption problem. I was burning about a quart every 1k miles.

I would love to get another G but I can not afford a new one and honestly, im very skeptical buying used because of the oil consumption problem. I bought my G from a private seller and i didnt even know about oil consumption. But as bad as I want another one, I am very skeptical because i dont want to buy the same problem.

I have recently fell in love with the BRZ.,..im thinking about getting a basic car to last me a year, and get the 2014 BRZ (with the turbo engine). thoughts?

There isn't going to be a turbo BRZ unfortunately. The BRZ STi is still going to be NA, with a little more power. You'd have to go aftermarket for turbo.

Sorry to hear about your loss.
The Star Ledger had an Infiniti ad that Infiniti was offering employee pricing for anyone that lost a vehicle in the storm. Start pricing on the internet and visit a few dealers for test drives.

The end of the year is generally a good time to buy

Good luck

Sorry to hear the bad news, is everything covered by Insurance? In the meantime you can't really go wrong with a Toyota or Subaru at all.

that sucks man i'm over by belmar and thankfully i didn't have any damage to my car/house/etc, but i've seen the damage in person and it's horrible. can't imagine what you must be going through.

the brz is definitely a nice car. if it was me though i'd look for another G.
good luck with your decision and i hope you get everything straightened out with the damages.

thank you all for the good wishes...

I still have the G in the driveway...waiting for the insurance company to pick it up and "officially' declare it totaled

Its a sad sight, the G is in my driveway, and it is completely dead...very sad. Like I said, I baby'ed that care, detailed it with a smile on my face every time.

but when 1 door closes another opens...I did contemplate getting another G but im just too skeptical because of the oil consumption..

I did go to an infiniti dealership to see if he had any certified g35's but no such luck. He did tell me about the special deal they had for Hurricane victims, but the only G I want is the IPS G35 and there is no way I can afford it. I saw one up close and boy oh boy what a sweet looking car.

there are some people who said that BRZ isnt coming with a turbo in 2014, but check this out:

there are a few more websites that are also confirming this same thing...I dont know what to believe

If you look into a older model G, (2003+2004 aka non revup) They have no oil consumption problems!

+1. If you want to get back into a G with a manual transmission just look into the older cars. If you want to consider an auto, none of the 03-07 coupes and and sedans had oil consumption problems. Also, the V36 (2nd gen G) models have no oil consumption problems whatsoever.

My advice is to do your reseach on comparables in your area so that you know what a resonable offer is to accept from your insurance company. You don't have to accept their first offer. Considering your G sounds like a minty example, be prepared to fight for an above average pay out. Your car has low miles and was cared for and as such, you should be compensated fairly for it. Will your car's cluster come on/display the mileage?

I sympathize with your loss. I wish you the best in getting your life back together.

thanks a lot...thats the same question I have. If the car is dead, how are they going to know how many miles I have on the car? it only had 65-66K. but how do i prove that. So far the insurance company just towed the car to their salvage yard, so im waiting to hear from them for a price.

Do you have any recent receipts with work done to your car? Perhaps an oil change? That's one way. Other that than that they would have to take your word for it. Maybe someone with a similar experience can chime in.

i'm curious to what you may get for it. You didn't mention if you have a coupe or sedan? How was it optioned? Sport option you had. How about the premium package? Nav?
