For dreamers only...!!

The 2014 Nissan GT-R will cost $100,590 including a $1,000 destination charge, the company said on Thursday. That’s an increase of $2,770 over last year’s price. The GT-R Black Edition will come in at $110,300 with the destination charge.

The Nissan’s 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 was improved last year to 545 hp and 463 lb-ft. This year, engine response is improved in the mid- and upper-rpm ranges. The body gets more rigid while changes to the shocks, antiroll bar and springs result in a lower center of gravity.

I remember the first time I saw one waiting on my Maxima at a dealer. Never even heard of it before and was walking around it thinking, nice little car, probably bumping up against $50K. Then I got around to the sticker....

There's a silver '12 GT-R sitting on my Nissan dealerships floor. On the windshield are printed these numbers $99,999, it's been there for months.

I'm sure a lot of potential customers don't buy these cars because they are Nissans. Face it, Nissan / Datsun doesn't exactly bring visions of supercars to the minds of people wealthy enough to drop 100k + on a car. More likely they remember cars like the B210 or the Sentra when they think of Nissan, It should have been marketed in the US as an Infiniti. VW and Toyota got it right with the Veyron and LFA, rich people want name recognition and Nissan doesn't have it in the US. Great car none the less, I'd buy one if I had that kind of cash to blow on a toy.

why spend 400k+ on a super car when the GTR just eats them alive on the track for 100k?

i disagree...theres a BIG difference between one who can afford a GTR vs a Veyron / LFA. I'm sure a lot of people buy a GTR, cause they can't afford (or don't want to) spend $200K plus on a car.

Weren't these cars like 70K-80K when they came out?
I was just looking at the article on the 2014 ones on AutoBlog but yeah, that sticker price will surely put this car out of my reach for the next 10 years!

I wasn't comparing the prices just the fact that they used their boutique brands to sell a car no one would buy if it said VW or Toyota on it. Not many people walk in their local Nissan dealer looking to spend $100,000.00, the one's that do know what they want. No doubt it's a great value, it has to be, for 100K you can buy an M5, 750IL or 650I, way more people walk into BMW dealerships looking to spend that kind of money, the same is true for Porsche, Mercedes, Audi & Jaguar just to name a few others, hell for that you can buy a used supercharged Bentley, Porsche Turbo or a Ferrari F430 so there's plenty of competition in that price range.

The older GTR's go for around $60-70K. This thread is about the NEW one.

for that price, you'd think there'd be room for a car using a detuned version of that motor in a RWD platform in the $70,000 range
